Dior Homme Frustration

Recommended Posts

Alright,

Since "Strip" (being the first season i ever saw), Hedi Slimane's designs for dior homme have captivated me. Back then, I was a 15 or 16 year old kid who's whimsical expenses income ($400 jeans and $600 jackets) came from working 3 days a week at an ice cream shop. Thus, I had to settle for the skateboarding apparel my parents agreed to purchase. But throughout the years i became a bigger and bigger follower of fashion and Hedi's designs.

Now that I am 18 and making a decent amount of money, i have the ability to hunt down some of his design in the smallest of sizes. Recently, I payed with joy for a f/w 2005-2006 tuxedo Jacket in a size 44. I was Infuriated when the jacket fit me as though i had stolen it from my father's wardrobe. I took the jacket to a taylor who claims he took 6 inches from the body in order for this item to fit me, and yet i had to take in a few days ago to slim down the arms.

I am 5'10" tall and weigh 115 lbs., which makes me a pretty slim guy. And although i look as slim, if not slimmer than the Dior models, I have shoulders and chest and I do not look anorexic. It appears to me, as though slimane's outfits are to fit slim on a more commonsize person.

These are my questions and my frustrations:

-Does Dior Homme carry any smaller sizes than a 44?

-If not, what other designers or brands produce slim and high quality clothing in sizes tighter and smaller than Dior Homme? (I have heard Lad Musician and Hare are alternatives, could anyone guide me with this?)

-Have sizing dimmentions varied from season to season?

-Which season carries the slimmest fitting clothes?

Superfuture has always helped me with information and opinions on the fashion world, thus I ask that you please share your opinions and suggestions.

I will post pics of the jacket later, and thank you for reading my post.

If you've got the money for dior, you can pretty easily get some slimmer stuff from japan. They tend to make stuff for the very skinny, not so much for the fat Americans. You can check out Julius or Wjk for a similar aesthetic. Try www.rakuten.co.jp, as they have some sites in English.

And eat a sandwich or something.

dior doesnt fit you well because your not a dior model and havent had it tailored properly to your size. no one actually is able to wear dior like the runway because they havent personally got hedi fingering their assholes to get the perfect seat fit like the safari boys did.

i found this thread pretty cringeworthy to read.. although im a big fan of hedis time at dior, its saturated as fuck... now every ugly twat thinks theyre fucking mick jagger after they slip on their DH 'skinnies'.. its fairly obvious the time has come to move on. hedi's already left mate.

Thanks to everyone for their replies.

Obviously, the clothes aren't going to fit me exactly as seen on the runway. Yet, i find it sad that i buy a 2200 USD jacket, and find it to be so off sizewise. It is odd that Dior Homme makes jeans in a size 26, yet their suits and jackets only go down to a 44 (xxs vs. xs).

As for eating like most, I am a vegetarian who eats like a pig. I don't find it logical to gain weight in order for clothes to fit me. It is clothes which i am searching for which will fit my shape.

Thank you stadsvandringar for the site, I'll make sure i check it out.

thomas_highstreet, i don't know if you fit into the category, yet many of slimane's followers do not buy his clothes in order to look like Mick Jagger or Doherty. His fans are usually too slim for the regular apparel available, and he says himself his concept came from his own troubles. As for uglyness, I would really like to know what you look like in order to judge wether that is a confident remark, or wether you are a fucking idiot sounding rad.

Actually, Dior does make smaller than 44. I've seen a few occasions on ebay where there's jackets that are 42P. They're pretty rare but I know they exist. Also I know http://groups.msn.com/diorhomme has a lot of information regarding sizing, and I remember someone making a thread with a situation very similiar to yours with a 44 still being too large, and there was information given about smaller sizing for DH. Hope this helps!

Way to be an idealist, and sort of an asshole. Have you ever noticed that they produce far more jeans in sizes upwards of 29 than below? Have you noticed that their "smalls" are just like everyone elses, and that they are produced and are more available than the xs-xss?

Makes you realize that "his fans are usually too slim for the regular apparel" is simply based on assumptions and half-truths spread to make the brands cachet appear more important and more stylish than they really probably are, and to be perfectly honest, there's no such thing as someone "too slim for regular apparel." Get your shit tailored.

Suits go down to a 38p (US 28). Yahoo JP always has some petite items up for auction. In my experience the earlier suits/jackets/shirts were overall much slimmer, especially the armholes. But for some reason the jeans seem to have gotten slimmer over the years.

As you mentioned, lad musician is a good alternative. They have a size guide on their website, and you can order from one of the proxy services.

From what I know, Strip so far has one of the smallest sizing ever for Dior Homme. You might wanna try Balenciaga for an alternative, oh and yes dont forget Lad Musician.

Off topic, but is Balenciaga's current women's collection inspired by C3PO?

youre also over 4 inches shorter than dior models

nothing actually fits anybody nor is tailored for the runway.... that's a total myth. its not like they have every models measurments and then custom tailer them, its all done basically on the fly.. runway shoes are hectic,

for example they sometimes use pins and what have you for runway/photoshoots...

if you look at female runway shows for example the girls fall usually because of the shoes -> they give them shoes which are too big or too small. they are no "tailored" for the models.

DH sizing can be tricky, and the sizing does vary from one season to another, even from item to item.

for example i wear a size 48 suit, a 46 trench, a Small polo and a Medium T-shirt, all within FW06 collection. i also wear 28 cords, 29 raw denim & 30 used denim. footwear is even crazier.

so basically you've got to try on diffrent sizes, also sometimes a certain item simply won't fit me, the arms are too long or perhaps too loose.

all i can say is spend more time in the fitting room before buying.. this is also why i rarely buy online.. (then again i am lucky to live 10 minutes away form the flagship montaigne store hehe)

have you worked on runway? lengths and cuts ARE altered for the models shaped... the designers whole image is based on that one show.. do you really think they would send them out in the exact same cuts from the clothing rales in selfridges?

obviously not fully bespoke, but they are undoubtedly fitted alot more sincerely than the retail stuff.

avocado seems a bit dim if hes spending 2000dollars on a jacket that doesnt fit him correct. isnt that a bit ironic to your statement that the clothes arent made for that rocknroll look? its fucking obvious the clothes are made for kids who want to look like rock stars... why else does he sponsor all the bands? are you blind?

i know a frontman who done a few dior runway shows, and he gets given alot of dior shit to wear at his shows to woo the kiddies much like yourself :D

If you're too thin for DH you really need to start eating and preferably also lift some weights. Your current weight is not healthy. Squats, deadlifts and a whole lot of healthy food would do you good.

Tsubi and April 77 are other brands you can check out though.

Oh yeah?...."Runway shoes are hectic"? What the fuck does that even mean you stupid son of a bitch? I swear, the only posts I've ever seen from you are brimming with negativity, stupidity, and total clueless behavior. Just mind your mouth before you speak once and a while.

And when the fuck has anyone ever "tailored" a shoe?

Goddamn....

Suck yourself fuckboy.

^^ Just tried to rep you WOLVES, but no can do. Also, regarding the tailoring of clothes to models, they absolutely do. There was this guy in France that claims he worked with Slimane and was selling tons of rare shit on the Bay back in the day and he had items with rather odd dimensions (READ: cut for the model) and the shit had the fucking models name written on the tags too boot (homeboy even said that the goods were tailored). Granted this is not 100% conclusive proof, but my shoes are hectic as fuck right now so I cant be expected to track down the auctions for you.

For most shows they won't alter your size, in my experience. I mean, first of all, they pick models that fits the clothes during castings (obviously), but they wont take in the waist or do alterations just for one guy to fit the samples. The shoes are really the worst part, I've done shows with tiny shoes that killed my feet.

Now, maybe Dior is an exception, I don't know about that.

Varies, this isn't couture or even MTM but they do adjust stuff, sometimes in advance, sometimes on the fly, most often the same way they do for shoots (looks good from afar but who cares about closeups).
