Boats,

Ay, this is Jason from Vapors Magazine. I am the editor, I started this shit four years ago and have put my blood sweat and tears into it. By all means you have a right to say what you said but I feel that it was a bit unfounded. Keep in mind that we come from zine roots, making hundreds of copies from kinkos scams and shit for years before we ever graduated to a four color press. We were not created out of some think tank or poll taken on campus by a publishing house to better target the market and reap the benefits from it. So in the past the lack of copy editing is just real, no way around it. If you notice in that issue(then one you refer to as me in an interview) it was titled "The Contributors Issue" We featured all of our contributors first and foremost because they were and are very deserving of our praise. In the last part of that feature we ran a few pages on our staff. The intent is not to big ourselves up, it was to give our readers a more personal look at who we are and the persons and personalities that create the magazines. All I'm sayin' is you should know the whole story before popping off ignorant conclusions. If you don't like the magazine fine, I can respect that but please don't not like it under false pretenses. Get back at me whenever you have a chance,

peace,

Jason

Not at all. We had five issues done before the first "the vapors" came out. We were a zine since 1999. Our xerox zines weren't distributed but in 4 markets (S.F., NYC, LA and Sacto) so obvisously we didn't know they were planning to do an issue and we had alread done 5 issues. On top of that, dont you think if there was any real problem one of us would have to change the name. We obviously have our legal game up and were solid, 12oz and us are cool and only suckas out of the know try to find beef when there is non. We are cool with 12oz/Turntablist and had chats with them when we both realized the descrepency. It was all good from the first conversation with them.

Also you might check the validity of the statement in the first place since they have only done one issue in 2001 and it's like 2005.

Mass Appeal is wack? yo, go back to reading Dwell, Anthem, Fader, I.D. and whatever other ghey magazines you like to critique while sipping coffee at Borders. You have no idea what realness is and what it take to make a magazine from the ground up. Mass Appeal brought graff to a level that larger corporations like Nike had to recognize its marketability. And for any of you to say that Mass Appeal is wack and that you read Complex in the same breath makes me want to vomit my malt liqour all over your pigeon SBs.

And while were on the topic, Vapors? hate all you want but they bring a breath of fresh air to the world ov super contrived publicist driven, suck the ass of any company that will spend a dime in their rag...magazines that you list as dope. At least these guys are real, who's the last editor you know that spent the night in a foreign prison for bombing? That kid is doing his thing and I got mad respect for that. The maharishi collaboration is ill too.

Its so obvious what kind of backgrounds a lot of you come from. You hate the real grimey street shit. And give love to the typical madison avenue publishing house bullshit. Thats ok, five years from now you all will have subscriptions to GQ and drive z3s.

I've been real into Tank recently.

i-D is the old favorite.

80's porn mags are the staple reading...

It's Red Motherfucking Foxxworth coming straight from VA, and I've been known to make the hoes bounce it up and down like the WNBA
