Not such great pictures, I was tired and wanted to eat... Tastes fucking awesome.

Roasted whole chicken in the dutch oven (no basting!) cooked on top of onion rounds. Made a pan gravy with the drippings. Really annoyed that I tore the skin on the breast, but oh well.

Rice (nutritionous brown/haiga) topped with a tahini sauce I learned from my mother in-law (tahini, parsley, fresh garlic, lemon juice, water, salt, pepper, and sumac) and toasted slivered almonds

A nice simple lettuce and tomato salad with scallions and homemade 5-ingredient vinagrette

Please ignore my awesome ghetto phone

Finished:

From left to right: Two jars of pickled hot peppers I made two nights ago

Rice cooker with rice warming inside

two loaves of whole wheat bread I made yesterday

the tahini sauce

salad

toasted almonds

the onions from under the chicken.

Just got that mixer on sunday and am still trying to find a place in my tiny NYC kitchen to store it.

Bread came out awesome too:

You will save obscene amounts of money. I make four loaves with 9 cups of flour, 3 cups of water and some trace ingredients (one packet of yeast, a tablespoon of salt, a third of a cup of olive oil and a few tablespoons of honey, plus REALLY tiny amounts of dough enhancer, in this case soy lecithin, powdered ginger and a single capsule of vitamin C).

Depending on what kind of flour you use, you can get a loaf of organic whole wheat bread for under $1/loaf. If you use white flour closer to $0.30 :)

This is my go to meal lately. Amsterdam Falafel and Fries. My cell phone pictures don't do it justice, but goodness... They have a full bar of toppings you can dress your falafel up with, but I usually go with a layer of hummus and then after I eat through that I add ketchup and Sriracha sauce. Not traditional or especially adventurous, but I love it.

Last night I made a palestinian dish called M'sakhan which is traditionally grilled chicken with a kind of bread baked in a tabun which is a clay oven very similar to a tandoor. But alas, too cold to grill, and no haz tabun. But I made due.

Dough for the breads, which were roughly 12" diameter flatbreads that I baked at 475 on a pizza stone:

This is the filling for the bread, which is softened onion, lots of olive oil, sumac, allspice, salt and pepper with a little chicken stock:

(and yes, that is my super awesome griswold #14 cast iron skillet)

The finished product:

with toasted pine nuts and the onion filling

Baked chicken with lemon:

Used the chicken from a couple of nights ago to make stock:

And a nice simple salad of beefsteak tomatoes and radicchio with the leftover tahini dressing from the previous meal:

Didn't take pix of the final product, but the idea is, each person gets some of the bread, a nice bowl of plain hot chicken stock, some salad, and some plain yoghurt.

I have two of those breads left and you can't have any!
