what are you eating today?

Funny how it doesn't matter what I eat/order, there's always this thing of wanting other peoples food. Oh, human nature. I'm resigned to thinking there'll never be any decent Mexican here. On a different note, here was dinner the other day, Chicken (Wings), Fish (Parmesan Crusted), and Pork (Ribs).

Oddly enough, me and the better half seem to have this repetitive theme with what we eat. Dinner the next was in the same ballpark, somewhat. Reeling from terrible scallion topped sweet wings, we went for something legit, hot on the left, runs inducing nuclear on the right. That and Chili fries. (and Vegetables, always served as a joke.)

holy shit, london may have some culinary hotspots but compared to that visual feast our fast food game is weak. So jealous of you NY mans right now.

well, who would do americana cuisine better than american's themselves?

Theres some dope chinese and malaysian cha chaan teng (ish) joints in London. My mates always have new spots in the different alleyways of chinatown every time i go down.

Point taken, but you'd think in the whole city there'd be ONE place serving decent American short order cooking. There's no way you'd find anywhere in London of an equivalent status to an NY diner ie a caff serving anything that wasn't bought in frozen or in tubs off a catering company. Periodically someone tries to open one, gets it all wrong. It's often remarked upon that in London, with all the excellent cuisine available there's only two places to get a decent burger that would come close to an average US patty.

As you say, best bet is always to go ethnic. I'm guessing the Malay joint down an alleyway was C&R Cafe on Rupert Court, and would imagine the cha chaan teng was the HK Diner on Wardour St as it's the only one I know, but hit me up if there are others, would be interested to check them out.

Taking some time off a hectic week of curating an exhibit to post up more photos. There's been heaps taken as I've been going along, so I'm trying hard not to get another pile up.

Mid week dinner out with friends from LA. Funny how they always seem to love just going back to greasy, crispy Filipino favorites . Here's half the dinner, it got to a point where I was too hungry to take anymore. Three out of the six, Dilis Rice, Fried Tilapia with a Coconut/Curry Emulsion, and Crispy Pata (Pig knuckles).

Next was another late night out. After a hectic week and fussed over food, it was back to simpler fare, meat in tube form. Bologna and a Frankfurter with Wanton chips to start.
