what are you eating today?

All I can say in response is that I hope the menu is written by the chef. If it's his choice to describe his food like that, so be it, however if I was him and someone else was writing that menu describing my dishes, I'd whither and die every time I saw it. IMO a dish is most effectively described tersely, the rest left to the imagination, or at least the server to elaborate upon if so requested. It looks intelligently put together, but it reads like a chaotic train wreck.

Whatever, London's hardly the last word in gastoculture, and a lot of our high end food is dull and monotonous, hell, maybe we could do with rediscovering a bit of fusion here and there, but god forbid menus start to read like that again.

^ that doesn't really look like risotto at all. Not bad, but not risotto.

Austin restaurant week is going on right now. Ate at a fun seafood place called Perla's tonight.

I forgot to take a camera, but the food was great (service was not so great).

Hush puppies as an amuse.

"Shucker's selection" of four oysters + condiments.

Roasted monkfish with a red chimichurri, herb salad, grilled lemon.

Side of fried okra.

Chocolate trifle with sour cherries and creme fraiche.

what is wrong with cheesecake factory? its a mainstream restaurant that GIRLS like to go to, so i take them there.

nothing exactly wrong with it

but I'm pretty wary of women who like chain restaurants

Speaking of risotto, I made some the other day. Snow pea lemon risotto topped with Dungeness crab meatz.

Also found full uncut slab bacon at one of the markets in town and had the butcher cut it epicly thick for lardonability. Just made them for no reason other than I have always wanted to cook with real deal thick lardons. Bottle cap for scale :)

Peach Crisp

From a little salad focused bistro called Vinaigrette.

Most everything is locally grown, home made...
