Neighborhood MAG. Vol.4 "Age of Spades"

The t shirts on the bottom of the page with prints of other articles of clothing on them look allright, but I swear on my eyes that Margiela or someone JUST did that less than a few seasons ago.

Are Neighborhood the same fuckers who totally rinsed the cholo/mexican religious iconography a while back? Cause that was even worse.

Neighborhood seems to be a Japanese brand who has continually designed for their domestic market...

I wonder if that has something to do with obvious band rip off tees etc?

Did anyone see the article (somewhere?) about Neighborhood custom bikes, an OCC style custom bike division of Neighborhood?

that is true. i get a feeling that in general japanese brands (not just clothing) stick to whatever they choose to believe and ride hard til the wheels fall off (or budget cut off). thats what makes anything japanese so attractive if the timing and demand is right because they do what they no matter what others may say, or how much they cake off of it right now. if they didn't do that, then we wouldnt have samurais, skulls, pbj's, eternals, etc...

it is to a certain degree true that outside japan (esp. in US), consumers just focus on "whats hot now" and not look at the history and the underlying philosophy. but on the flipside, we might say whats the big deal, they are just clothes. i guess thats what separates japanese culture in general from more materialistic (or may i even say superficial) western culture.

i feel that each one of you points are somewhat off though i have no definite answers myself. the market won't allow a company to keep producing a product that fails, somebody's buying the shit. trends exist in asia, if not more viciously, especially in consumer culture. and the superficial jab is unfair. what do you have to say about korean girls and plastic surgery? mainland chinese businessman and newfound riches? and all those other silly status symbols when it comes to designer goods. save face save face!

&&& teh Neighborhood is painful.

I just sort of meant that Neighborhood has always been inspired by the Bikie / Outlaw / Rebel cultures, and that the people buying the clothes, probably don't care to much about Black Flag's music, or ideals, they just like the image that is associated with it... Maybe this is due to cultural differences, maybe it's just a market positioning thing, I don't think can really say that it makes it more superficial...

Caring about authenticity and the roots of punk / harcore culture is so hot right now any way?

I used to think the Neighborhood savage denim series was kinda cool...now that i look at it i think it sucks.

QFT

This season is really weak, not feeling all the logo flips. The only thing I liked from this mag is the picture of Nigo.

Does anyone have a notion of how much the savage denim will cost? Probably $700+?

The savage denims usually retail for 48,300YEN. Only exception was last season's Wolverine savage at 60,000++ yen. So you do the calculations :D

^ Are they ordinarily that 'inexpensive?' (ha ha) I didn't realize that the Wolverine savage was particularly costly. Union LA was selling them for $720, and their mark up is usually very decent, just a few $ more than getting them shipped from a proxy.

Speaking of, who are people relying on for Tokyo/Harujuku proxy purchases since 2000db hung up his cape? Parachutes said that the Tokyo store is too far for him...
