Need a new wallet fast, ideas?

Hey everyone

Long time reader, first time writer, here's the scene: I lost my Bottega V wallet and I need a new one ASAP! I've searched the on-line shopping section and a lot of other places but I can't find an amazing AMAZING wallet.

Do you have any suggestions? The criteria are:

Price: Around £200

Coin pouch (god damn these british coins)

Not a big brand (cd lv another bv etc are out)

Preferably hand made

I don't know if you've seen the Isaburo 1889 http://www.isaburo.com 'basic wallet' from their 'New Prestige Line' but it's nice. The leather quality looks average though =( I found a perfect wallet in the 45rpm store in Paris (for 280 euroes) a few weeks ago so I'd like to buy that, but I can't remember its name or if anywhere else sells them. All I remember is a stitched bicycle. Any ideas? Gracias!

Talk about efficiency! Thanks for the suggestions guys

The BEA Man wallet looks very cool but the button enclosure on top is too fiddly for my distinctly graceless fingers, I guess the same goes for the giant zips on CDG. And also ever since Dover Street Market opened everyone in London has a CDG wallet =(

So now I think about, a 'bill fold' type, fall open one would be perfect

I have a Jam Home Made wallet and it's very, very nice. Made of black perforated leather with a little button-snap pocket inside that can be used for change or credit cards. It's pretty large, but I like it. Of course, you'll have to have someone order it for you from Japan...

It also has a super-cute Riri zipper inside that's about 5cm long.

Alternatively, if you wanted something similar to your Bottega wallet, the new season Margiela wallet that's made of woven leather is really nice (available at www.diabro.jp and maybe aloharag.com ...)

Hey Minya is this the jam wallet you have?

I don't know if that's perforated but is it the same shape?

I am feeling this keychain!!

I'm being pedantic here but doesn't the stick out ring on jam wallets snag on your jean pockets?

What're your opinions on this wallet?

I do like the skull and cross bones but I'd hate to come across as faux vintage at best and jack sparrow at worst. It also says it's made of Ramb, what is that?!

I was looking at the site that sells the Jam Homemade wallets, and found this:

Is there now a vintage shoes repro-movement forming in Japan, or has there been before? Because for some reason I really like these imitation Skate-Highs without the "swoosh" or whatever Vans version is called.

I really like these! Can this be done without the perforations as well? I hate those perforations! There's really no point, they just let water in when it rains. By the way, I know that there was a company that made repro Adidas superstars.

Yep, that's the one, although mine is slightly different in shape, I think. When you unfold mine, both sides are equal length--it looks like one side of that wallet is shorter (?) but it might just be bad pictures / color balance. It's a pretty large wallet, probably larger than you're expecting. If you want a small, slim wallet I would not recommend it. The leather is beautiful, however, and you can be guaranteed nobody else will have it. The ring DOES kind of end up being a pain in the ass... I'm not using a wallet chain at the moment so it just sort of juts out a bit. It actually pierced a hole clean through my Julian Red California back pockets (!?) but my Dior jeans are staying tough. In any case, the ring gets kinda smashed up easily -- and it looks really neat half-beaten up. Both jeans and wallets look best when they're worn to shit, imho, so it doesn't bother me at all.

I would avoid that skull&bones wallet like the plague -- skulls are some of my favorite imagery but it's so easy for them to come across as cliche. That one looks cliche as hell to me.

"Ramb" is Japangrish for "Lamb" :P

Sorry, I found it quite funny that it has to priced around 200 pounds.. very strange.. Im sure you could find a wallet worth half that that is probably better than one around that price range.. I could see if 200 pounds was your max price, but it seems like want the wallet to be 200 pounds... a little absurd, but anyways, enough of my pointless ranting

I guess leather goods connection is out, they have some of the best leathers Ive seen, ever. Wildswans JP has some sweet wallets in your 'price range' that have coin pouches, also, CDG is a good recommendation, as many have said

The Visvim elk leather wallets are pretty similar to the CDG wallets in terms of construction but are a lot nicer, and for around the same price, or maybe a trifle more. Also I used to carry a Richard James wallet that I loved. Great shape and detailing. I've thought of going back to it from time to time, though it's pretty, uh, "seasoned." I also think Margiela makes some great wallets, and Porter makes some interesting ones that are a little more sophisticated than their velcroed out Head Porter cousins.

Hey Everyone

Merci beaucoup for all the suggestions! I'm kinda outta my margiela phase, everyone's blatantly copying him. It's knida the same with CDG although their collaborations are amaaaazing, there's a Levi's jacket in DSM which I MUST have... for £500, stupid exchange rate =( I'm sure it's somewhere in NY for $500

Anyway......... how about:f_68.jpg

At http://www.wildswans.jp/01wlt/flicker1_01.html but it seems a little plain...

I tried Richard J and Visvim and Porter but I don't know what Red Moon-esque wallet you mean...

I dunno it's so hard to find a wallet relating to this ambiguous ideal in my head, I'm so close to giving up and buying something awful, it's such a laborious process!!!! But I guess you get what you, err, search hard for?

I'm completely anti-Freitag. For one thing, their bags and wallets are so played. For another thing: even worse than the ubiquitous originals are the endless people sporting knockoffs without even realizing they're sporting knockoffs. So many people are biting Freitag, it's absurd. Yet another thing: the price points are ridiculous considering the material. You're literally buying a sloppily-stitched piece of tattered, often filthy, European plastic. Buy one of their wallets and watch it instantly devalue the rest of your outfit.

I carry so much miscellaneous crap (promotion card from the original Men in Black!) that a card case would send me spiralling in to withdrawal

I'm drowning in a sea of leather and japanese. How did you guys pick up the wild swans wallets? I found an agent site where they offer to buy it for you but I'm unsure of the exact operation or its veracity.

Suggestions are still welcome everyone!! Anyone!? Anyone??!!!
