True story: when I first started browsing WAYWT, I did so in an attempt to get schooled on style. I still remember viewing Tange's posts in that thread and thinking, 'man, this kid's got style.' Then came the shocker that Tange is more gentleman than kid (when the face blur was left removed intermittently). And I was left rather conflicted.

I've since been of the opinion that Tange must be one helluva pimp IRL to be able to dress himself in such a youthful way and still appear confident and self-assured in the process.

Mr. Matsu: while we've agreed in the past regarding certain matters, I must disagree with your opinions here. I think Tangerine does what he does well.

And so I don't sound too hypocritical: I know I've been critical of some of the other older guys and their respective styles -- I think the difference here is that Tange is fit and his wardrobe flattering to his physique.

However big of an ass he is (and I know OMC and polishmike are going to jump on my nuts here), Thurston Moore has done wonderful things in broadening the scope of experimental noise and improv with Sonic Youth, his side projects, and Ecstatic Peace. Even if the scene is crawling with mewling hipster spawn like me, at least it's open, flourishing, and continually interesting (though some would argue it's become a joke of itself, the releases are uninventive and flaccid, etc; that's totally subjective).

His interview with Beck on MTV is pretty fucking awesome. I've never seen punk:attitude, but he could be pulling your leg there, too.
