interesting...

anyway I switched to rocking Alternative Apparels, I like them better. they last longer then American Apparels, mine have gone through many washes and they're still in good shape... I have a wholesale account with them so I get them pretty cheap... :)

i find that american apparela sizes are rather inconsidstent. i've been able to zfit into antying from xs to medium... Like most people have said though, the shirts setrech. Another weird sizing issue: i have a grey hoodie and a navy hoodie, both in small, but the grey is considerably slimmer than the navy...

oh yeah...and none of my tees ahvie shrunk that much, but my henley's have shrank like crazy...

just for reference i'm 5'11" and 145...and drunk

i'm 5'7" 130 lbs and an xs fits me perfect in the tees and henleys. i would think at your size that anything bigger than xs would look big on you. its all about what kind of look you are going for though, i like my shit pretty fitted. and fyi, the sweatshirts, hoodies, and track jackets run a bit smaller so you may need to go up a size for those.

thanks for the relpies.

well, usually when i buy basic sweaters and t shirts, i'll go to places like banana republic or h&m. i fit nicely into banana republics mediums, they are really slim on me. On the other hand, if i buy a h&m medium, it's huge, but then i wash it and it shrinks so much, that it is almost too small for me.

I was wondering how american apparel fits were. I'm around 5-9, 130, should i order mediums or smalls. I am ordering online, so i was just wondering. I want something slim, but not tight. Thanks!

im 5'9" and 135 with a 36" chest and wear a medium, cuz they shrink like half a size when you put them in the dryer

6'3" 145, no chest and smalls would be perfect if they weren't too short and mediums are the perfect length but too loose. Ach!

it really does depend on what style you wear in terms of shirts. Im 5"9, 145 but i have a pretty small chest. I used to wear only smalls but they just started feeling way too short. I wear mediums in all my shirts now and just shrink em a bunch. Same with AA shirts. If you want a lil more room go with M i guess.

funny, my friend whose a manager at AA swiped me an olive and yellow basic vneck. i hot washed and shrunk them both down, and they both maintained their shape, weird. to top it off, the stitching didn't seem as dodgy as it usually does either. maybe its just a freak coincidence, but i was actually taken a back that they didn't turn to shitz after i shrunk them down.

i'll say this though. the material that the olive shirt is made of seems thicker than the yellow.

. . . and when i was in the store the other day the had stickers on the henleys saying they shrink 10%. seriously? if they shrink that much why don't they just size up everything on the labels to save us the heartache.

its a great brand in terms of the fits and styles, but man, oh man -- if they could get their act together on quality control i'd be a way bigger fan, bc my general attitude with them right now is you either love it or you hate it, more along the hate side.
