Most Anticipated Album for '07

For me it has to be the new Modest Mouse album. They added a new bandmate (arguably the best song writer of all time in Johnny Marr) and their new single "Dashboard" is nothing short of fantastic. Here's too an awesome year of music. '07 should be sexellent. ;)

Christian Fennesz & Ryuichi Sakamoto. It's hinted to be forthcoming, but who knows...

Rainbow- Boris & Michio Kurihara. Kurihara is from the very fine Japanese psychedelic/jazz/prog/folk outfit Ghost. Aquarius Records put mine in the mail yesterday.

And, oh, what the hell, Radiohead.

Roxy Music reunion disc. They probably haven't anything new to say, but I'm still a fan of Bryan Ferry, in whatever incarnation. I hear he's supporting the fucking Tories now. Horrible.

Ma Fleur- The Cinematic Orchestra. Been waiting for this one.

Neurosis.

What I really look forward to are the complete surprises. Things which appear out of nowhere and take your head off. Like Svarte Greiner did near the end of last year with Knive. Call it acoustic doom. Superb.

Hmmm Roxy Music should be interesting and the Radiohead album shouldn't be bad. One of the most interesting albums coming this year will probably be the new Iggy and the Stooges disc. It will be their first album together since Raw Power, which came out back in '73 I believe. Should be interesting to listen to a band that hasn't recorded together for over thirty years.

i've heard one Farah track, 'law of life'. i really liked it. i love, moreso, where glass candy is going; they're one of the few bands from that early 00's scene of new indie groups that has remained interesting... unlike, say, the yeah yeah yeahs.

dizzee rascal and wiley are grime, i'm a huge grime fan. lots of good stuff coming out of the UK these days, overall.

I have to second the new M.I.A. Arular was a great album, such a fresh style comparing to all popular crap. I didn't hear anything about new RJD2 but he has a lot of talent so that might be also good.

I'm pretty sure there will be a lot of good electronica since last year few labels were slacking off a little. Tirgerbeat 6 is coming out with some stuff as well as Type (almost everything they released recently was great). Team Doyobi is coming out any day on Skam and they should have few more 8-bit sounding goodies this year. Also anything from Kompakt and sister labels is highly anticipated by me :)

Didn't know Wiley had a title in the works already...Damn, that mans hard at work.

Wiley- "Playtime is over"?!

2nd on Dizzee Rascal- ???

Cormega- The Inevitable

Pharohe Monch- ???

Dystopia- Claim to have a new album for '07. Could be epic, could be trash.

Raekwon- OBCLII (anticipated, though my expectations are low)

Ghetto- Ghetto Gospel

Kano- ???

Saigon- The greatest story never told

For the most part though, i'm looking forward to the people my friends put me onto, and discovering older music that I haven't heard, or somehow missed. That's always the best.

i'm looking forward to the stateside release of Charlotte Gainsbourg's 5:55 (music by air; lyrics by jarvis cocker and that dude from divine comedy; produced by nigel godrich)

have you european dudes heard it?

honestly, i was looking foward to it but unfortunately it was kind of boring.

the apple fell far from the tree this time. i just wanted to hear the legacy sing some slick production style yeh-yeh. maybe it's just me.
