I need help getting dressed

Long story short, I'm going to a club tonight. I'm wearing black dress shoes, my SSDS, and a black AA thermal. I was originally going to wear a black belt, but then I tried on a tan colored belt, and I thought it looked pretty good. Is this a faux pas (not matching your belt with your shoes)? I don't want to wear too much black. I want a bit of color to spice things up. The thermal goes to my waist, so you'll partially be able to see the belt.

Sorry for the waste of bandwidth.. just need some SF advice, that's all.

i would never do what you're about to do in a million years, but without seeing it i can't really say anything beyond that.

not matching your belt to your shoes is not the biggest fashion faux pas in the world- in fact, if anyone tells you so, tell them that they should stop believing what GQ tells them.

i agree that not matching your belt to your shoes isn't always a fashion crime on the order of wearing a trucker cap with a hoodie underneath a 3-button brooks brothers blazer, but it still doesn't look good all that often. from what you're describing, this sounds like an instance where the contrast of the belt with the rest of your clothes would detract from the outfit, not add to it. stick with the black belt.

I think they make an integrated trucker cap snitched to hoodie top snitched into 3-button blazer at urban outfitters now....
