I posted this in SuperJetset also - hoping to get better responses re: shopping here...

I'm going to all of these destinations early next year, a run down of what each city is good for in terms of shopping, nightclubs/bars, day spas and anything else of interest would be good.

I terms of shopping I want to do luxury stores - Gucci, LV, Dior Homme etc, designer streetwear & denim and also any interesting local brands that I can't get in Sydney. Possibly electronics too.

Nightlife i want to check out underground clubs - Indie Rock or Electro. If anyone is familiar with Sydney club nights something similar to bang gang, purple sneakers, kink and electric disco - anything thats not too commercial.

All suggestions appreciated!

Haven't been here too long, but heres a short list:

Shopping:

Huahai Rd/ Xin Tian Di: Good place to go for middle/luxury shopping. Uniqlo/Zara within walking distance of each other, local brand stores along the street. Huge electronics store as well ( make sure to haggle down the prices if possible ).

Nanjing Rd: Big $$$, you'll find most of the luxury stores here. Haven't been here many times.

Nightlife;;

Most of the clubs I frequent are near Huahai Rd. Heres a run down..

Windows - Several Windows throughout Shanghai. Cheap and very dirty, good place to go for happy endings and stds.. Plays mainly hip-hop

dkd - fairly small club compared to others, drinks and shit are expensive here, good idea to get somewhat pre-wasted. Sometimes has well known DJs playing ( Armin Van Buuren plays today :) ) music varies, mainly electronica ( house/dnb/trance ).

Guang Di - located in Fu Xing park, my favorite club despite the music. Has a nice outdoor patio to chill if you want to relax for a few minutes. Alas, drinks and entry fee are expensive here, so get pre-wasted. Plays mainly mainstream hip-hop, sometimes electronia.

Baby face - Has a hip hop section and a house/dnb section of the clubs, music varies week to week depending on event. Haven't been here more than once so I can't comment much!

Some others off the top of my head.. Bon Bon, CD, Blue ice (?), etc. It's really hard to go wrong with any club here, it's almost always a good idea to get kinda drunk prior to entering.

Taxi's are cheap, food is cheap, rent is cheap, but clubbing is EXPENSIVE.

Hopefully someone can provide more info, still working on my mandarin/shanghainese so my list is quite short.
