I went shopping today, and got a polo shirt and some checkered vans. while i was out, i saw 7 for all mankind selvage, polo selvage, coogi selvage, rugby ralph lauren selvage, energie selvage, and diesel selvage. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN

a) you don't know what selvage looks like.

it's fake like poly says (look at some g-star stuff and you'll know what i mean, it's just a piece of white fabric sewn over the open-end)

c) the influence of people who are into selvage denim is being felt on a more mainstream level, and we're going to have to find something else to get into, like... i dunno... vintage tickle-me elmos... ha-ha. ho-ho.

haha. ill admit i was a bit overdramatic in my opening statement. i know that the rugby was selvage. also the coogi, and that the diesel was raw, and had a selvage looking seam. it didnt have those fake selvage little cross stitches on the side. WHAT DOES IT MEAN was a little theatric, so ill stop using all caps in future posts. thank you for the quick feedback. edit: geowu, thank you, but i know the difference between open ended and selvage. my nudie superslims are open ended, my studio d'artisans are selvage. it didnt have those little open ended crossover things and it had "train tracks" so i assumed it was selvage. sorry for my terse assumptions.

yea i noticed this too. alot of other jeans have selvage, but not quite the same as like apc. looks like it comes off easily too.

I never even knew what selvedge was before I started reading this site, and even before then i was obsessed with jeans......

for the record i am in favor of more companies offering selvage...just means more options for cuts, price ranges, etc. i dont discriminate based on labels...if it looks good and i can afford it i will cop it.

I think its just the whole raw denim thing is coming back. Recently American Eagle has added raw wash jeans to there collection.

Iono if people can handle the idea of not washing there jeans for six months though. This trend will die out fast trust.
