anyways, after playing around with the key words, i found another thread where a guy asked the same thing as i and got nothing but helpful responses, strange how that works, huh? http://superfuture.com/city/supertalk/showthread.php?t=1337&highlight=denim+york

45rpm. 2 locations. Uppereastside at 71st between madison and 5th and SoHo on Mercer south of Houston

Blue in Green. Green north of Canal

Jean Shop. 14th near 10th i think.

Atrium. Broadway near Bleecker

Earnest Sewn. Washington street south of 14th.

Famous Friends 9th street between ave a and b (i think)

APC. Mercer between Prince and Spring

maybe more but whatever i think the first two are probably the best.

the SoHo 45rpm store has about 100 pairs of jeans on display when you walk in the door.

looking for some legit denim shops in NYC to hit up next week

any info is greatly appreciated, every time i go into NYC im kind of lost and just roam around, ha

thanks in advance

  • 2 weeks later...

i just came back from nyc. while i didn't go hunting specifically for denim, here's some of what i found:

blue in greene (lots of rare japanese denim, i love this store)

- sugarcane

- warehouse

- oni

- samurai

- john bull

- stronghold

- pure blue japan

- studio d'artisan

famous friends (most jeans were on sale!)

- acne

- nudie

- 5ep

- rogan

- atelier la durance

odin

- lots of dark, raw denim on top of the shelves, i didn't look specifically at the denim but they seemed very nice and i would definitely check it out, especially since it's a few blocks away from famous friends

45rpm (i went to the soho one)

also might want to check out Nom de Guerre if you're around broadway (close to soho). i really liked their black NDG selvedge denim, very good quality IMO.
