Question, if I am staying near the wharf but can only get around on foot/in a cab, is it worth it to go to rolo? I figure i can do alot of shopping right there in union square, but are there any other places that are really worth the trip? I was thinking about recon too, is it anything i wouldnt really be able to find at huf? Sorry if this is a little off topic.

Airjamie, I think the Market Rolo has cooler stuff than the SOMA ones, personally. And Recon has some things Huf doesn't have, especially shirts, hoodies and jackets. I guess it depends on what you're looking for.

American Rag on Van Ness may also be worth your while. And then there's Haight St.

What sort of stuff do you want to look at?

Well my style is very dior/helmut langish but i also collect sneakers so huf is a must and i was thinking recon cause they stock futuralab and i can take a chance and see if they still have those clerks pack dunks in then aswell (doubtful but oh well). as far as clothes basically the slimfit H&m type deal going on so anything along those lines is what im mainly on the lookout for.

^People line up around the block for new releases at Recon, so you should probably call first, though since you're staying at the wharf, you'll be closer to Recon than any of the other places. Couldn't hurt to pop in. For sneakers I do prefer Huf but I'm not so much a Nike head, I wear mostly Vans and Adidas, Huf has a good selection.

You should hit Hayes, there is a Swedish clothing place I can't remember the name of that has Filippa K and other stuff. Azalea and Nida are good too, I've gotten some HL items on sale at Nida before.

Where are minya and horriblyjollyjinx, they will remember some things I'm forgetting here.

i always thought american rag was an actual brand..but i guess not...

and Recon > Huf for service/employees

but Huf has a wider selection of sneakers...Recon is good for Nikes and the futura/stash clothing lines (subware, recon, FL, etc...)

and to Airjamie...def. check out haight st. lots of sneaker shops...and Villains Vault has an alright selection of denim...alot of diesel, gstar, true religion...but they have also have some nudies and edwins and some brands ive never heard of..

^ American Rag carries (or has carried at times) 5EP, PRPS, LVC, Earnest Sewn, Evisu, Acne, Diesel, G-Star and a lot of other stuff that I am forgetting.

minya has also said that Recon > Huf for service/employees but I have had the opposite experience, have always been treated better in Huf. Don't know what that's about.

why dont you spend like 5 to 10 bucks on a cab ride? jeeesh, your going to walk for denim. take a cab at the end of the day your spending money anyways.

Ha ha, his cab bill is going to be more like $50-100 if he goes to all those places. $5 will get you a few blocks.

true then he gets to wear the jeans he buys from the store on the walk back. its never too early to break in jeans. I did this with a pair of levis i bought from the levi store. "Hey can i wear these out?" dude at the counter gave me a weird look and said "uuuh yeah sure." "thanks bro!"

I'm going to be lining up at Recon this saturday :(

ill see you there then! lol...

i just hope it doesnt end up like the stash release...with people camping out days in advance...

im willing to go friday night if i have to...but thats the longest ill wait in line for em..

but recon campout/line ups are always pretty well organized..and the customers respect each other, etc...so no line cutting,etc...

what's coming out?

a pair of black and white Dunks. Probably the coolest colorway ever. I really could care less about it being limited edition (although the stingray material used is neat), but they're BLACK AND WHITE. totally sweet.

I talked to them last Friday and they mentioned they were ordering a lot of shoes, so I'm hoping if I show up on Saturday afternoon I can get a pair with minimal wait time.

i hope your right....hopefully they have lots of size 10/10.5 =)

and all the materials on the shoe are dope...stingray, dri-fit, waterproof rubber?

yeah, it's really nice. But the colorway is what sold me. I have been checking pickyourshoes.com like twice weekly, hoping they'll restock on those black Dunk highs.... but I know they never will :(

forget the dunks. the air max 90's are sick from the clerks pack. im going to huf saturday morning. =)
