Novelty washes

Ok I know most of you are not fans of pre-washed/distressed denim, but you've gotta admit some washes look really cool.

I'm talking particularly about washes that don't necessarily try to mimic a vintage look.

With that said I've made a deal with a laundry that will do one wash per month for me to showcase on my blog. I just need to tell them what processes I want.

Is there anything you would like to see done? Especially a funky wash you've seen on Japanese jeans and want to see if an American laundry can do it better. I'm open to all ideas and who knows- if we reach a consensus maybe we'll call it the SF wash.

I can certainly have the laundry do this wash but it may not come out so nicely if I'm using run of the mill denim from Cone. I might just have them try it to see the results. It may prove the obvious fact that the end product is mostly a reflection of how nice the raw materials are.

Still, any ideas for novelty washes that don't necessarily try to emulate months of wear without wash would be great. For example, we can spray a special formula resin on just the back pockets and wash the crap out of the jeans for what may turn out to be interesting contrast (dark raw feeling and looking back pockets on top of faded jeans). Or we can bleach just the coin pocketing and see how that looks.

The possibilities are endless when you stop trying to make the washes emulate vintage.

BTW, my blog is denimnews.blogspot.com

Fade to Black- Do you have any pics?

Regarding the dye- I think a sort of overdye can be done to achieve this. And perhaps add a catalyst to make the dye uneven...do you have pics to illustrate how you think it should look?
