If you're looking for basics, check the local HK brands like Baleno, Giordano, Blue Star etc...cool, super cheap clothes. A step up (in price) would be something like Izzue (another local brand). Mong Kok and TST (around Graville Road) are some of your best bets for local fashions.

I'm so self-conscious...

a favorite local store of mine is goods of desire or (G.O.D.). they have a store in soho of central, langham plaza in mongkok, and harbor city in TST. they have some interesting asian stuff. i got a shirt there that said "DelayNoMore" which sounds similar to the cantonese saying "motherfucker" lol.

hit up the markets in mongkok and temple street in jordan. lots of cheap interesting shit there too.

Landy where did you get that delaynomore shirt? I'm heading to HK to visit some fam, definately want to check out these places where you're finding these shirts

I remember going into a few buildings up and down, little shops in mongkok but can you direct me to some of the better ones? (last time went with friends, chicks, and all were chick clothing)

there's a brand new shopping mall on a street parallel to nathan road. the mall is called langham center or something. there are MTR signs that can direct you there. the mall is HUGE. i think its modeled after one in japan. you have to go up a series of very LONG escalators. once you reach the top, you walk down the mall which is built in a downward spiral design. the G.O.D. store is there.

i got my shirt at the G.O.D. location in harbor city in TST.

if you're going to hong kong for a while, it'll be worth your while to go to your local chinese consulate to get a multiple entry visa to china. it costs more to get one while in HK. with a multiple entry visa, you can take the train up north to shenzen. there's a huge shopping mall right at the china train station called lo wu commercial city that has just about everything at ridiculously low prices. lotta fake shit too.

hey i'm going to hk in the summer and i'm interested in buying some hk local fashion clothes as well.

- i'm mostly looking for t-shirts though, brands like:

stussy

bathing ape (especially the one that says "by bathing ape" under the logo)

comme des garcons (the one that says "PLAY" inside of the heart)

evisu (are there even evisu t-shirts?)

graniph

- there are also brands which i had heard of, but not too quite familiar with, like:

neighborhood

obey

undefeated

undercoverism

what other local brands are popular?

- what is the average price for a stussy shirt in hk is? where to buy them?

- whats the price for fake bape shirts? where to buy them?

- where can i find non-brand t-shirts with random english words on them?

i'm guessing mongkok, TST, and causeway bay are the only areas where i can buy these type of shirts?

but i want a specific location/shop to buy them....and for a cheap price.

also i've read some posts made by landy, and it seems as if you have a lot of knowledge about hk fashion.

btw, can those shirts be found in the mall in shenzhen? approximately how much?

and also, can anyone identify what brand of shirt is this?

it looks like they're the same brand.

i want to buy some shirts that look like this...just with random english words on them.

i dunno what brand those t-shirts are. sorry.

stussy - you can find stussy stuff in markets and around boutiques in causeway bay

bathing ape - there's a bape store in central. there's also a lot of stores in causeway bay that carry bape gear and bape tees

comme des garcon - i heard they have a flagship store in chai wan. i think you should look it up online.

evisu - they do make t-shirts. any lane crawford department store carries evisu jeans and tees. try the lane crawford in the IFC2 mall, pacific place, and harbor city. there's also an evisu flagship store in the IFC2 mall.

neighborhood - HK pop tart edison chen's store juice carries a bunch of his stuff. his store is in causeway bay.

all of the above brands can also be found in china. if you go over the border to shenzen and the lo wu commercial city mall next to the train station... there's a ton of stores that carry that stuff. whether or not it's AUTHENTIC is a different story but i've seen tons of bape, stussy, evisu, supreme, comme de garcons, etc. t-shirts there. sometimes you can find real stuff. i've actually picked up a few evisu t-shirts there. you can haggle them down to bout $7-9 USD per t-shirt. if it's fake, who cares.. it's a damn t-shirt. you get a good story out of it too when you tell people bout the mall. seriously that mall is bananas. chinese people will follow you everywhere tryin to sell you everything from porno dvd's to pedicures. and when you bargain with them, it's a hysterical game.

the other brands i'm not sure where to go.

if you're looking for nonsensical fobby t-shirts that are good for laughs.. just hit up the markets like the night market in temple street or the ladies market in mongkok.

if you wanna find out what brands are really popular, just hit up your local newstand and grab a copy of MILK magazine. you can recognize it by the MK logo on the top left of the magazine. it looks like the old school DC comics logo. you'll know it when you see it. even if ithe mag is in chinese, it shows you pictures and where to pick up the clothes. its pretty much like complex magazine.. actually i think complex magazine bit off MILK. anyways the magazine is like less that $2 USD so its worth your time to grab it.

what are the prices for those t-shirts?

the bape store in central probably sells it very expensive. even if you buy them in causeway bay, it might still be kinda expensive. is there anywhere to buy fake ones that looks good? i've been to ladies market but i dont think the fake ones look too good.

and isn't lane crawford a women's store? they sell evisu stuff? but again the prices are probably way too high for my budget. so i'm more interested in knowing where to buy fake stuff in hk instead of authentic stuff.

and wheres temple street close to? i've been to ladies market and fa yuen street, but never been there. it's almost similar to ladies street?

is milk magazine released every week or every month?

thanks =)

the brands you lookin for you'll be lookin at paying $30 USD and more for the real stuff. of course stuff like bape, neighborhood, and comme are ridiculously expensive. you're better off going to china to pick some stuff up. i got some neighborhood shirts for $7 there. i dunno if they were real but they came bagged and with tags. all those shirts are screen printed anyways so they should be cheap anyways. any hypebeaster that pays $100 USD for a damn bape t-shirt is a fool. if you want tees go to low wu china. trust me.

lane crawford is a department store like bloomingdales or barney's. check out their stuff. they carry a wide range of some of the world's best high end brands. if you're a denim head, they carry stuff like evisu, aletier la durance, acne, PRPS, RMC, etc. but again, you'll be paying retail for all of it. so if you're on a budget, maybe you shouldn't even bother.

temple street is in jordan. its known as the night market because its starts when the sun goes down until bout 1am or so. it gets really crackin about 11pm to midnight. exit A i think at the jordan station. hang a right and walk about 4 blocks. then make a right at temple street. they carry similar stuff to ladies market but other interesting things as well... like chinese commie stuff, sex toys (lol), faux michael lau and eric so vinyl figures, etc.

i think MILK comes out bi-weekly. i'm really not sure. its a cool magazine tho covering everythin from uniqlo to vintage levis.

i hope iw as some help to you. pz.

8five2shop for brands like fiberops, know1edge, crooks&castles, fuckingawesome, irons, and thehundreds. also got all your skate needs. out of any "street" or skate shop in causeway bay, this store is always packed with clientele. there's a store called Dusty, Loll, man, a MILLION streetwear-type shops wherever you look in causeway bay. gotta keep your eyes peeled and look up and down the buildings because most the shops are on the 2nd, 3rd, floors, etc.

aside from Milk magazine, I'd also recommend Friday magazine. There are just as many streetwear-related magazines as there are boutiques in HK and they all have ...uhh.competitve names. Friday, Monday, Milk, Tea,..

but be aware that the magazines out here are focused around the brands that pay alotta $ to be featured, so just as with any big media, they're slanted.

thehundreds is huge.

^ yeh its true. that's the nature of the hypebeast tho. especially in a trend conscious place like HK. if your brand gets featured in a mag like MILK, you can guarantee the kids go out and get it.

big ups to dusty. one of the first HK streetwear labels.

anyways, i got a couple issues of MILK lyin around. sadly, i can't read chinese so i showed it to my mom. she says the mag comes out every week on a thursday. i think the other mags like touch, friday, etc. follow the same scheme. MILK is probably the biggest one out there though. tea is the female companion magazine to MILK since MILK is all guys stuff. milk + tea = milk tea. a popular drink in HK, both hot and cute. how cute huh? lol

i've been to lo wu before.....and damn the mall is hella huge.

most of the time you can't decide to buy stuff from which store....or you just become lost.

are there any particular stores that you liked?

or any parituclar stores that sell mostly t-shirts/jeans that i'm looking for?

or are they just randomly scattered all over the mall lol.

thanks =)

how are things there overpriced?

you always bargain right? heard somewhere that you should bargain to at least 1/3 of the original price.

This is a little bit out of topic but interesting.

I know this guy who makes his own brand from Montreal, The brand is called dom rebel and they only do screen printed t.shirts.

I was in Hong Kong a couple of weeks a go and I could not believe my eyes when I sew this line with jeans /jackets, t.shirts, pants etc... with exactly the same logo and hang tag as my friends company ....

selling super cheap ... I was so surprised 'cause it was not even fakes --- it was a complete line with 100% same logo and brand image but different designs...

Does anyone know if this is common in Hong Kong 'cause I sell my brand to a store down there and I do not want the same thing happening to me ...

How can I prevent that besides registering the brand in Asia
