Awesome food scene in Philly. But not often cheap.

Buddhakan on Chestnut & 3rd -- Pan Asian & cool decor
Blue in Green for brekkie
Thai -- Erawan on 23rd-ish (a dive, but delicious)
the "new" Continental at 19th & Chestnut -- fun kitsch retro
Di Bruno's on 18th -- panini

I don't like Marathon Grills, but they're always packed.

447 Poplar St
Philadelphia, PA 19123

dancing:

www.hollertronix.com
at the UKEE club, 847 N Franklin St, also:700 club is sometimes amusing, I used to like the "Mod" night

Grub:

either Johnny Brenda's Frankford & Girard Sreets Philadelphia, PA 19125 (215) 739-9684
or Standard Tap http://www.standardtap.com/

Steven Starr Group owns most of the "hip" restaurants, Morimoto and Barclay Prime are standouts.

also gelato fix from Capogiro on 13th st.

food shop:

Reading Terminal, local organic on fri and sat, (Philadelphia Fair Food Project),
also Di'Brunno's 17th st for "Euro" food, ie: cheeses etc. also: Metropolitan for breads.

Record shop:

AKA in old city, beautiful, knowledgable chick usually at counter.

Tailor:

Sues Tailorshop, germantown Ave, Chestnut Hill. makes my suits/shirts for 9-5.

Thrift shop:

Village Thrifts, especially the Germantown one, cheap and random. once found a David Hicks designed 70's channel Necktie for fifty cents.

art:

Institute of Contemporary Art, http://www.icaphila.org/

other:

for everything else NY is only 90 mins away.
