Cheap ways of calling Japan?

Hey, all.

My girlfriend recently moved back to where she was born, the land of the rising sun.

I was wondering if any of you could tell me how you people

communicate with people over seas. Long distance calls are surely

expensive and being a poor minimum wage worker, I just can't keep up with

the bills. I need your expertice in regards to calling cards and voice chating via MSNIM.

If there are any alternative methods to that, I would like to know of that too.

Any advice would be greatly appreicated.

Thanx, and I hope everybody has a great day!

I really appreciate all the feedback that

everybody gave me. I've decided to go with either Skype

or voipbuster. I was considering the Yahoo BB internet phone

but isn't that based in Japan? I could be wrong though.

I guess I forgot to write where I am going to be calling from.

I'm currently in San Diego. For those who have used

either Skype or voipbuster, I was wondering if you were charged any surcharges

when purchasing the credits in euro?

Not that I'm aware of. The only drawback of VoipBuster is that some people find the sound quality dodgy sometimes. But I hear they solve it by installing another client for audio - it's a plug-in I think.

Reporter: "What do you think about western civilization?"

Gandhi: "I think it would be a good idea."
