So there's an idea I've been kicking around in my head for a bit but I figured I'd throw it out here on the board for ppl's thoughts.

Similar to what djraiio is doing in hooking ppl up with goods from Japan, I was thinking that we could do this globally. What I'm proposing isn't a for-profit service, more just a way to hook ppl up with stuff they can't get locally in their hometown, etc but are available in other cities/countries/whatever.

I know it's kinda done informally on the board where ppl offer to grab stuff for ppl but I thought it might be kinda cool to have a couple of ppl repping each major city (NY/LA/London/TO, etc) who might be willing to give store reports every now and then and then take orders from ppl. The reps might tack on a handling charge to the purchase if it meant they had to travel a bit to get there or something but you guys get the idea...

I know it can be a logistical nightmare with the money exchanging hands, trust, etc but it's just something I thought I'd throw out there....might be a cool way for ppl to get hooked up with sizes, sale stuff, etc that they just can't find in their regular spots..

i think there should be some sort of feedback you can give to other superfuter'ers like the ebay percentage system. ... so you know what your getting involved with sortof

You'd need to set up escrow and whatnot for larger purchases... Also, I don't know about anyone else, but I probably wouldn't do this much work unless I was getting some sort of kickback. It seems like kind of a headache, and it's already pretty easy to get things from (Japan, NYC, LA, Canada, etc.) informally with PMs.

It just seems like trying to set up something ebay-esque here is asking for trouble, and probably a whole lot of work the superfuture-folk don't really want to do.
