What kind of denim is this if at all?

Hello. I just picked up a pair of jeans and noticed it's rougher than my other pairs. How come the fibers(or weave or whatever it's called) go horizontally and vertically vs my Levis which are diagonal? Thanks!

Looks like broken twill. I think Wrangler is the most famous for using it. They used it because the legs won't twist with this type of weave.

sorry to hijack the thread somewhat but on the mention of twill jeans

are 'jeans' such as dickies iron tough twill jeans denim? what is twill?

most woven products are a twill of some description. Well most you would wear as pants.

I'm not sure this is broken twill, or even a twill at all - a twill should have a diagonal line visible - with a broken twill you can still see the line, but it zig-zags. The type of weave here is more like something you'd see on a chambray, altho I've have noticed it on a few jeans, particularly light-weight ones. I'm sure there's a specialist term for it that ringring would know...

very interesting looking. Almost looks like a canvas weave - though the front looks almost like broken twill to me.

^ yeah i got them for cheap online and like them alot just wondering what they were. I wear my jeans long so here's a pic of how i wear them. (33/34 waist but like it bunching up kinda)
