Is this a Montreal thing? Last time I was there I watched about 12 of these dudes fight it out in a park, battle royale style. We don't got swordmasters in Toronto, I don't think.

BWWAHAHAHAHAHAH

I was born in MTL and lived there for a bit, and had no idea this went on until about 2 weeks when i went to visit my cousins. She was telling me about it and i got to witness it first hand (it was about 30 vs 30....mostly little kids and some virgins like pictured above)

Some of the older dudes were serious - coming out in chainmail armour and looking like they're ready to kill some kids.

Some dudes w/ Bow & Arrows, there was one guy w/ an 8 foot lance.

For those wondering, it happens every Sunday at the bottom of Mt. Royal (where all the hippies gather to play bongos). they go pretty hardcore whacking each other with the weapons (they're styrofoam and duct tape). There's also an "honour" system where if you get hit, you pretend that part of your body is gone. Example: if you get hit in the left shoulder, you pretend your left arm just got chopped off, so you put your left arm behind your back and continue to fight. If you get hit in the knee, you drop down to one knee and continue to fight from there.

It's actually extremely hilarious.

Now my city:
