Owned by two guys Kai and Sunny. Kai has a history working in the music industry designing for Mo'Wax. Sunny, graphic designer whose done stuff for Maharishi and Griffin. Two of them started the brand to take the piss out of the blind consumerism behind everyone favorite simian.

Not the best photos I’ve seen of their stuff. but hey, obscure, got a message, cheap. nice.

Its a bit broader than just bape, they recently did a BBC pisstake which was recalled for legal reasons.

So pissed off that i missed out on it, i was about to by it a week before the recall.

Notesee, hates a harsh word for it, this brands just taking the piss at the industry and the established iconography of contempory street wear and culture. The guys behind it are both designers.

Around here, about 5 years ago it was cool to see someone wearing bathing ape cause you'd know that they were into the same culture as you. You really can't rep bape anymore without feeling like a dolt, cause its gotten to the supersaturated point, and pretty much everyones heard of it. But Bearded man kind of gives the whole thing a new breath of life. Now when you see a dude with ABM its kind of the same thing as bape was years ago. So they're really part of the same thing that they're pisstaking on. Its not motivated by anythign other than a sense of humor.

They had a mix CD in distribution a while ago that i'm trying to get my hands on aswell.

Sorry to inform you, but A Bearded Man is history. No more - apparently due to legal issues. Their new project is called "Sticks N' Stones" and will drop S/S '06. It replaces ABM.

Too many people talk too much about too many things they know too little about.

sunny and kai who make ABM are really nice guys and I reeckon their stuff is wicked.

They also do Call of the Wild which is really good from a graphic point of view.

We still have some of that BBC stuff that got recalled in the stock room lol
