This isn't true. I have US made levis from 1999 that have this tab.

as for these ones, they are a pair of 505's from the beg-mid 60's.

505 never had the selvadge (allthough there are a few ones just to fuck things up).

I believe 505 was on of the first mens jean that Levi's did without the selvadge, due to the fact that there is so much more fabric wastage when not cutting the legs along the selvage.

Anyway, they ARE so god damn cool, I followed this one on ebay and the price went silly..

^The stitched arcs, pocket bags, riveted coin pocket, and non-laurel reef buttons tell me otherwise...The denim fabric itself, taller coin pocket, and "cleaner" stitching (not sure how else to describe it) are consistent with much of the late 40's pairs I've seen and are how I came to my first guess!
