uh, does anyone here really skate?

Got into skating in '87 when I was 12 or 13. Only ever really skated street. Kept it up for about five years and gradually lost interest after starting college. Skating definitely had an impact on the kind of people I'd hang out with / shit I'd get up to / music I'd listen to / clothes I'd wear for years to come. Don't think I've stood on a skateboard in over ten years now though. I'd probably split my head open if I tried to land anything more complicated than an ollie.

Shit...don't skate anymore. Started skating in the late 70's. with a banana board. I started getting serious when I was 15-16 and skated with a Powell Peralta, Rodriguez and a Santa Cruz, Duane Peters. Can't remember the wheels offhand, but did use Bones and Yo-Yo's at at times. I always used Tracker Trucks. Wore Levi's, Dickies pegged pants and shorts, flannels, T's and Vans or Converse. I skated at Skatercross in Reseda, Knapp Park, some pools etc. Used to skate with Jay Smith back then. We are still friends and he still skates.

Used to. Wanna start again, too lazy though.

2 years.

Blind Popsickle

Last board I rode was a Unabomber D.I.Y.

'Ull, England

Street when I did.

Last shoes I had were Etnies Siege with a shit load of Shoe Goo. They were invincible.

I forget, I almost had varial and inwards heelflips down though.

Maybe, I guess you're talking about the Bones Super Swiss Ceramics or something like that? I guess they'd be better suited to Longboarding or something though. Super Swiss I reckong would be quite sweet.

I used to, I just started messing around with it again now that my kid is skating.

I skated from '88-'93, inspired by the previously mentioned, revered Animal Chin video.

First board was some readymade piece of crap with marshmallow wheels. First pro board was Powell Peralta, I think it was a Tony Hawk model, had a black-and-white checkerboard grapic with a green bug the length of the board. Probably Indys and Bones but I don't remember.

I am using an old H-Street Ron Allen with gullwings, Spitfires and I don't know what bearings. Board is probably a '93.

I started skating in Seattle, skated street only. Gave it up when I moved back to San Francisco, streets/hills here were way too fast, I nearly killed myself a couple times and said fuck it. My knees were starting to give out anyway.

I mostly used to skate in Airwalks back in the day. Now Vans Sk8-His are fine for my feeble rolling around.

Tricks, ha ha. Not hyperextending my knees is tricky enough. I do boardslide 180s (I don't know what they're really called.) Oh yeah, wheelies. icon_smile_clown.gif

i agree...

skating thru mags... doesn't cut it.

i started skating in 76... in winterpark, fl.

plastic and homemade deck were in.

first poly wheels started coming in them.

now i skate everthing from kona, to owl's head.

as i get older i've been getting back into downhilling and slalom.

but i still enjoy skating vert and grinding copping.

i basically use generic decks made out of bamboo or canadian maple for trick boards.

wheels still love the tunnels but also have some habbitat wheels.

it's all about the preferred durameter on the wheels.

bearings: bones reds, or any abec 5's work for me.

ceramics are nice but i haven't got there yet.

my longboard is pimped out though.

i have 2 longwood decks.

3dm avalon wheels

randal II 180's trucks and exkate trucks for carving.

my preferred ride is the 008 zippy.

also have the classic longwood skateboard's - longboard

anyways. glad to see some gear comment's

peace.
