gore-tex xcr

I wore a friends north face summit series xcr jacket the other day in sleet and fell in love with the gore-tex. I don't want to drop 500 on a jacket that I won't use that much, is there any brand besides Face Patagonia Arcteryx Acronym MH Marmot Burton that use the material. Maybe something that you wouldn't be paying for the name as much as the material. Or is it possible that there is a material that is just as good as gore-tex that I don't know about. And I am speaking about XCR, not Windstopper or otherwise. Thanks for any help.

lord forgive him, he got those dark forces in him

The Ready Mix jacket from Patagonia is really nice and only 200 bucks. I'm not into the colors this season, but its a great jacket.
