Sucks that QuickGold doesn't search mail. That App would be perfect.

download Categories, it's either in Cydia or Installer i forget

Just use the 'search' or go under the 'sections' in Cydia.

just use winterboard to take the names off of all the folders

and categories has a shitload of different folders

go into sections and install some of the repositories

these are where all the different apps are hosted.

was it just a simple restore to factory settings then resync all your stuff back onto it?

i'm super nervous of bricking the phone, one of the reasons i barely ever plug it into my comp

i heard now if you try and go from 2.1 to 2.2 you gotta do something special before doing it... maybe it was just restoring to default i forget.

flashing is just another way of saying "restoring firmware (with the OG or jailbreak one")

if youre jailbroken already, just do the usual. dl the 2.2 firmware from apple and quickpwn/pwnagetool. yellowsn0w should work too regardless of whether or not you updated your baseband.

i always thought if thats how you brick it, if you try upgrading firmware from a jailbroken phone

not if you alter the ipsw to a custom ipsw in quickpwn/pwnage.

then option+click upgrade in itunes and it'll use the custom firmware as opposed to the regular apple stuff.

i can use a custom firmware (from quickpwn) and upload it to my iphone using itunes. Am I right?

i just redid the firmware on my backup phone the other day, and im on itunes 8.

BUT, os x 10.5.6 might give you problems with dfu mode. idk tho, im still on 10.5.5
