am reading the book first before i watch the mini-series, but the book is a great read so far. pretty quick.

I love the way David Simon approaches sound and music in The Wire. Supposedly there's gonna be absolutely no score in Generation Kill. Only even music when the soldiers sing. Which is an idea I'm really into.

Slightly left of thread maybe, but being a relative newcomer to this production and having just about finished up watching Season 5 of The Wire, it's interesting to me that there's so many references to the issues facing Gulf War veterans on their return home woven into the later half of the series.

Enjoying this so far but it grows increasingly uncomfortable with each episode I get that same feeling that the last season of the wire gave that I'm being teased into desiring action but regretting it when it comes. When you consider that much of it is true it's all the more distressing.

I'm fucking loving the show. The episodes have so much going on, they're each worth a couple watches...This is my favorite part so far, from ep 1...

loved the closing scene of episode 4 where they start singing teenage dirtbag, and how it sorta paralleled with their failed objective/mission of finding the missing female marine. there was also a scene where they gathered the women and children and are talking about how strong women are; had me wondering if david simon was trying to make a point about the relationship of women and the military in general.

The acappella Colbert/Person/Trombley/Reporter version of Tainted love in episode 2 has it for me. Outstanding.

Think I prefered the episodes directed by Susannah White over those directed by Simon Cellan Jones. Wonder if there was a particular reason for the division?

Ditto, pretty incredible show. How many of you guys know that Rudy Reyes is actually playing himself? That shit is just fucking insane. At first I thought, there's no fucking way that anybody like that could be real. I'm going to read the book sometime just to get some more insight on all the First Recon guys, the new edition with the cast on the cover supposedly also says what everyone is now doing after the book. Lt. Fick was a fucking Dartmouth graduate!
