Tokyo Hotels

Yeah - I know there's a 75-page Tokyo discussion, but it seems to be wandering down it's own little path.

So, what I was wondering is if anyone has any recommendations for good, moderately priced hotels (few hundy) in Tokyo.

I am not too concerned about location because I am happy to take public transport anywhere I need to go (but I am open to suggestions of hotels because of the area they are in).

i always stay at the hotel new otani (chiyodo-ku district)

it's one of those mega western-like hotels with thousands of rooms over several towers but it has lots of price points to cover all budgets, is right on one of the main subway lines and given it's central location, you can get everywhere quickly

and it is a designated earthquake evacuation centre (i know it sounds silly to consider this but hey, you never know)

i stayed at the mitsui garden hotel in ginza (it's close to the jr shimbashi

station) and liked it a lot.

I stayed at the Hilton Shinjuku. I believe it was around $180 a night and well worth it. The cool part of staying in a hotel in Japan is the Toto.

I stayed at the Hotel Villa Fontaine at Shiodome for a night. For a single, it's as low as 10,000 yen a night and it's a decently sized room. They have various locations throughout Tokyo as well. http://hvf.jp/eng/
