Anyone shoot me some links to where I can purchase some good belt buckles? Tandy dosnt have much. I need a nice solid buckle, preferably brass.

Browse here http://eleathersupply.com/buckles.shtml, Mike. Maybe you can find some :)

Also wanna show some items we have made out of 8-10oz veg tan leather.

who is going to be the first one to make an ipad sleeve?

already done~ my uncle got one. i basically made a giant card case like the above one that simplefarmer posted, with 5oz, since the thing is so thin. he wanted something ultra simple, and I was all for it. the bottom notch is a bit differently cut, but still works exactly the same.

Belts are the only thing I will make from leather that thick. Although, I have been thinking I could make a bulletproof vest! (9)

yea, i was gonna say! 10oz wallet...ooof.

haven't really posted much because i've been swamped, so here's the more interesting stuff i've been doing. The color's are probably a bit weird, my camera's showing it's age and I'm too lazy to get out my calibration charts to fix it right now, but yall will get the idea. Besides the 100 day project i'm doing, I've been using some heavy cotton/linen grain and feed sacks from the 30's for inlays.

and preparing for the line i've been designing, full on production mode

Nice corter, are those special orders or just something new you're trying out? It would be nice to see those for sale, likin the wallet in the middle.

Also I've been following your 100 day project, is there any chance you can put up more pics of today's card case?

I'll make em for anyone that wants them, it's just kinda hard getting nice bags is all, they're not easy to find.

here's a prototype of something I've been working on, it's not perfect, but I wanted to get something all-in-one out of it. I think I'm close

I finally used the cordovan dye to make something today. I'm really liking the color, and think I will make myself a belt with it soon.

Thanks Hollows I appreciate the feedback. Aside from a facebook photo album entitled "product" this forum is my sole online resource for critique.

This bag is a slightly modified version of a bigger one I posted here a couple months back. That was when I first figured out the closure. It's a really fun system that is super adjustable. I was initially inspired by those roll up rafting dry bags. Specifically a Northeast River Supplies Bills bag. They totally win. super simple waterproof backpacks. If you seal them properly you could potentially float a raft. They have come through so hard on a number of occasions. Having dry gear in wet conditions is true luxurious.

luxurious like leather.

I sold this bag for $200. I offer silly deals to the cool people who are willing to support me.

I just received my coolest commision to date. One pair of elk basketball shorts for Kingdom of fool's gold records. He's about to go world tour playing dance music that he produced. He definitely needs an elk pair of basketball shorts. I couldn't agree with him more. It was the first thing that came to his mind when I told him I made my jacket. He understands luxury.

I picked up this sewing machine about a month ago. Pfaff 138 zig zag. It's pretty boss but it's not the answer to all of my problems. I'm still on the hunt for a big boy walking foot.

IMG_4522.jpg

It can sew leather but it has limits and my expectations exceed them. I need a machine that can sew with rope. Right now only my hands can do that.

It's still a good pick up for the lab. It's going to be great for making jeans with leather chaps. Awesome dynamic between raw denim and fresh veg tanned leather. As the indigo fades the leather darkens.

sorry for the noob-value, but I wondered if basic wallet reins are quite easy to make or not? Is it as simple as plaiting around a couple of clips, or is there more to it? Just something that does the job, even if it isn't a work of art.

thanks!

hm...it depends, there are 4-strands braiding, 8-strands, and so forth...more starnds more complicated. Basic wallet rein are 4 strands usually, and yes, the method is easy to master but it will require some experience and skills to make a beautiful rein.

Here are my recent veg tan works, wallet and a camera casing
