i bought a bag from b jirushi yoshida or some shit a while ago. Here is link to store - http://www.bjirushi.com/

What is this? Is it the main porter line? is it a collaboration? for some reason i thought it was beamsxporter but i don't really know. Will i get good street cred when carrying it around?

to put a spin on the old phrase "if you gotta ask, you'll never have any"

anyway...yeah, my question actually stems from a Porter shoulder/messenger bag i purchased at Beams a while back. it is by Porter.....and i'm wondering if they are one in the same with Head Porter...

The "Porter" line is the original Yoshida Kaban line dating back many decades.

The "Head Porter" line is a separate line started under Fujiwara's supervision in the 1990s. Supposedly Prada ripped the idea of creating nylon bags from the Head Porter Tanker series, spurring the entire Prada nylon bag craze in the 1990s. While you can purchase the Porter line at various retail locations in Japan, it used to be that you could only purchase the Head Porter line at Head Porter boutiques. Head Porter Plus is Fujiwara's more clothing inspired label w/ Porter.

The B印Yoshida line is just another collob between Yoshida Kaban and Beams. It has no relation w/ Fujiwara.

Now +rep me bitches.

Quality is exceptional for the price. I've owned many porter products and used and abused them like crazy without any trends/stitching coming undone, nor tearing or deformation of the product. Plus, the (majority) of designs are simple and understated which I like. It also helps that the designs are pretty interesting but obviously not extremely progressive. The only thing porter doesn't do exceptionally well is progressive designs in leather. The label excels better in fabric/techno-fabric/canvas/nylon materials. Also, if you want to get nit-picky, then the are sized for typical Asian document sizes, so an A4 bag, etc. which isn't as relevent for the US and non of their bags use Riri, higher quality zippers but I've never had a problem w/ the zippers on my bags.

bjirushi = porter x beams collabo.

i live pretty close to the bjirushi store in daikanyama.

they carry some standard items but they specialize in limited edition / collabo items.

their stock doesnt rotate frequently. other than the beams collabos,

they currently have wackomaria x porter bags but they look pretty gaye.

the store is worth checking out if you are in the area.

POV beams is where its at.

i hate beams but i approve of POV.

I think that the consensus here is that head-porter.org sells legit items. There's also the headporter.org website, which I had thought was the main webstore (very well could be wrong here).

Otherwise, I'd say your best bet is through rakuten (I've gotten some headporter stuff off of here before) and probably yahoo japan auctions.
