kixslf, so did they lose any color from the soak? did the water turn blue?

i just checked the tub and it isnt really blue at all...which is good. I want these to retain as much indigo as possible. No stirring, no nothing. I just needed em to shrink a bit and come a bit cleaner then they were previously. Ill get pics up when they dry guys

Superstar, I'm going to have to agree on the color retainage of the 501xx. Most of the pix I've seen have had a pretty dramatic result between pre/post wash. My 501xx are taking forever to break in, I'm hoping it's all an illusion!

Carl: Whats the hand of the PBJ denim after the soak? Did they retain any stiffness, or get really soft?? My biggest problem with soaks/washes is that the texture changes so dramatically!

nah, i still have pbj's on the go, which i plumped for instead of eternals as my first real japanese jeans, now I have some s5000bk's in the post, so I cant justify more jeans just yet, especially as im saving for a dslr. Perhaps when next term starts I should get some. I have a rule of one new pair per term, thats about normal, right? Maybe I should get some eternal tigers from bears, after all black jeans dont really count....

The thing that draws me to eternals is how people describe the fabric, they sound closest to the denim on my favourite pair of jeans ( howies selvedge ). Green tinge, lots of "vertical falling".

Thigh and lap become a little soft. Everywhere else retains most of the stiffness left before the first wash.

Damn these jeans for staying so tight even after repeated wears in the house!

I can tell that there only gonna need a couple weeks wear now inbetween washes to ahcieve something great. Why denim gods, why!?!

Good to know. VERY stubborn jeans in every aspect. While I wasn't expecting APC-like stretching on mine, I thought they'd eventually give a little more than they have. My pair is getting some holes repaired today, so they've been temporarily sidelined.

Oh, and those Eternals are coming along really well.

The best pairs I can recall from memory in this thread have been New Standards, Evisus, and SDAs.

I think a lot of that has to do with people not having easy access to Japanese stuff pre-xcoldricex/2000db/BiG/Selfedge, so there are more broken in APCs around.

From left to right, Cheap Monday black overdye, Dior Homme 19cm, Nudie tight long johns, APC NSs, Helmut Langs. I'm going to go get my Dior's hemmed today, just recieved them in the mail.
