LA, where to stay?

ok so ive been to LA once in march and stayed with a friend but im looking to go in november for my birthday and wanna stay in a cool place. we went to eat at the standard and i always wanted to stay there so im thinking a suite at the standard? is that worth it or a rip off? is there somewhere cooler or better i should stay? i wanna stay in a good location that i can walk to cab stuff easily, its my birthday and im going down there to party and wanna stay in a killer place. a big shower or tub is a must

Generally hotels by the Morgans Group are on point. I've stayed at the Hudson in NYC also, and its beautiful.

the roosevelt...its a nice place along the same lines as the standard

the standard is probably one of the coolest hotels i've ever seen!

get your hair cut there too! its amazing

looking for something in the $500 a night or less price range, i like modern design which is why i like the standard
