Thanks again to all for your input. I'll be taking a close look at all the brands and boots mentioned.

Avanster, the Juilus boots you posted are nice but they remind me of Harley type motorcycle boots. Is that the intent?

After putting some thought to the parameters of my decision making process, I've decided the following:

- a boot that I'd wear maybe once or twice a week

- I'm more drawn to tall boots (probably because I've never had a pair and I like the look of tucked in pant legs) but I realize that they may not be as versatile

- it needs to be black or a dark grey (I already have browns)

- I don't like bulbous toe boxes

That's it for now. I'm sure I'll refine the parameters once I see more boots.

Regarding the M.A+ boots, I think the A model is wearing the wrong jeans to tuck in the boot. I think a slimmer, more tapered jean would look good. I kinda like the flared upper that has no laces. I think it gives it a less structured look that would go well with drapey type tops. No?

I like the Ann D. riding boot from this season but it looks too much like rubber work boots a fish monger at a wet market would wear. Nothing stands out about it.

What do you guys this about this one:

The toe box looks a little too bulbous to me but that may change once worn. I think it's very neat that the entire boot is made up of 1 piece of horse leather.

And yes, the guys at A are super duper cool.

I like those a whole lot more, but looking at your parameters, they aren't tall.

My advice, for the price of those MA+ (I'm sure they're bank), get 2 pairs of Guidi boots, one mid ankle lace up boot and one high lace up boot. Guidi has a shit ton of different leathers they use and they are all exquisite.

I personally have a pair of the mid ankle reverse leather lace ups and I love em. They have great grey and black tones and are very versatile.

Also, those drkshdw jeans are pretty slim and they do taper. I think the tops of those MA+ high boots are just quite big. (Which is obviously the look he was going for)

the toe box is bulbous and it won't look any different when worn. most cdiem and m.a+ shoes have a bulbous toe box so that might not be your cup of tea.

these shoes look very similar to the linea shoes that A had before. i'm sure amadei had a hand in designing those(?) as well.

have you checked out the guidi boots that sbw is selling?

i think he has a grey pair. i'm not sure what size you wear.

as an aside to goldenglove's post, guidi is the manufacturer for cdiem, m.a+, ccp boots (correct me if i'm wrong). awesome leather work!

Guidi is, above all, a tannery. No idea about their link with MA+ but I know they provide (used to?) the leathers for CDiem and did make the boots for them. Poell boots are all built in-house and I don't know which tannery they're working with.

Found out from A that Guidi was the supplier to CCP and Carpe Diem but they no longer have ties to either company and none with M.A+.

goldengloves - where online can I find the Guidi boots you're talking about?

ddohnggo Amadei designed the Linea boot that had laces all the way down to the toe. Is that the one you're talking about? I've never seen it but was told they were similar to the ones I posted (the tall boots). I kinda like the grey Guidi zipper back boots and will check the supermarket. Thanks!!

So far my fav is still the CCP but A is out of my size. Anyone know where else I can find it in a 42?

lowrider, alan bilzerian in boston has the ccp boots in a size 7 (should fit you as a 42) for $1390. cheaper than A.

and i was referring to the boot with the laces going all the way down. very nice, but look like ronald mcdonald boots, moreso than the cdiem boots i have. haha.

you may be hard pressed to find guidi online.

Low-

I think you're trying too hard to consider all of these other alternatives we've presented to you and you still like the ccp's. I say go with those as you won't be disappointed and because it sounds like that's what you really want. This thread was a good exercise though to at least help you realize that.

A told me that the CCP in a 7 would be too tight for me (that's the last size they have but are very hesitant to sell them to me). I'm a true 42 (US 9 no?). Why do you think it'll fit me?

Thanks for the tip, I'll call AB.

Yes, the 7 should fit you. I'm a normal 12, and a 45 in Guidi and a size 10 CCP fit me perfect! They run about 2 sizes small. But for comparison, have someone at A measure the sole and compare that to one of your current shoes.

A recommend at first I get an 11 in the CCPs and they were WAY too big! So I returned them for a 10 and I am happy now.

BTW, if you want a big selection of Guidi, give Maxfield LA a call, they carry a shit load.

ddohnggo & goldengloves

Thanks a lot guys. I'll call them and have them measure the sole. BTW, since these CCP boots are object dyed, they are smaller due to the drying process. Have you guys heard from others who have tried on this specific boot or were you referring to other CCP boots?

Lastly, what's the point of the metal attachment thing? Is it just used to hang the boots up? Or can you use it as some form of accessory item like a key chain or something?

You guys have been a great help. Thanks again!

It's to hang the boots, but it's a waste homey. Mine just sits in my closet inside the little tyvek bag with the shoe cloth. Plus it's way to fucking big to wear as an acc.

Have them measure the sole for you and compare, that's what I did and it worked out great. (I probably could have even went down to a 9 in the oxfords..)

The CCP's are great boots though and as long as you take good care of them, they'll be with you forever.
