Do all dry selvage denim "wear" the same?

Or do certain brands wear-in faster than others? I have a pair of dry APCs as well as a pair of dry selvage Nudie RR's, and it seems like the Nudie's develop wear marks (fading, creases, etc) faster than the APCs. The Nudie's also feel thinner than the APCs, so maybe that makes them wear-in faster?

I think the speed depends. Some seem to wear faster than others. Maybe has to do with the dyeing method. Natural dyes, though rare, take longer to fade. Eternal jeans seem to fade really fast. I though Nudie's RR were heavier than APC, maybe not... but they do differ in the wear marks... that's for sure, the Nudie RRs have some vertical streaks that are not the ringspun thing, maybe something to do with the dyeing method.

Denime wear extremely fast. I got a pair last month and are already showing signs. It took me a long time to get my nudies the way they are. This was a first wash picture.

will post better pics later. But denime is so coarse and thick. They are by far the thickest and heaviest jeans I own. But they also wear extremely fast. Way faster than Nudies and APC.

tons of stuff for sale now on ebay: corpus, hollywood ranch, levi's premium, vintage etc.

yeah, i noticed the samething too.

even though i don't have a pair of Nudies yet, every picture i see of them with lots of wear, the distress marks seem to be sharper and more defined. also, the denim has more streaks and you can see it even more once they've been washed.

The reason Nudie always looks more distressed than APC is because the denim is of different weights. Nudie is truly a consumer entry level dry jean and APC or another heavier selvedge is for more of a denimier...

I have both and have been wearing them both about the same recently. The Nudies definitely wear easier then the APC's....

Its more gratiftying to me with the APC's cause there a heavier denim and closer to a real vintage dry pant...

i managed to get more pronounced creases/lines and contrast bc i sand papered mine. i know its cheating but i couldn't resist.

That brings up a good point, I've always wondered if some of the nicely worn jeans have had some sort of "artificial" stuff done to them to speed up the process, such as sand paper, pumice stone, etc.

For example, this pair on the mynudies photo gallery has always looked a bit suspect...

To get fades like those Nudies, sit "Indian" style and use your thumb and forefinger to really crease the already natural creases that appear when you sit like that. Use your fingers to press them into really "sharp" creases, I guess you could say.

Then just sit there and rub the tops of the creases with your hands. Just your hands.

I do it all the time when I'm sitting around the house, work, school, skate spots, etc...

After awhile you just see these totally defined creases start to appear, not just fades, but actual creases that are faded at the point. If you use anything other than your hands though, it just overdoes it and makes it look pretty unnatural.

Was this random post too nerdy or what..?

I do the same... not only with my hands but using denim (I see not many people do this.. I try to get the same effect that you get when your inner legs rub against each other creating lighter areas in the crotch, etc.)... let's see how my jeans turns out... I only have one dry pair.

i don't think you could get a pair of APC's to look like that pic above unless you did some sandpapering, cuz man nudies aren't bad by anymeans but it just feels like the indigo would rub off ALOT easier than the apc kind. i don't remember the website but if you saw the English cuts that weren't washed for seven years, even those didn't have pronounced creases like a nudie pair would.

This is why I think certain dry jeans will wear faster than others. It seems like brands like Nudie, Denime, Eternal, etc that tend to gear their dry jeans more towards the distressed look seem to wear-in faster (as pointed out by Geowu and poly800), while brands like APC, Helmut Lang, etc that go for a more "conservative" look, seem to wear-in much slower.
