black pants + brown shoes, help !

hi superfuture !

so, i have a wedding to attend, i dont want to buy a new suit. i going to work with a black pant and the only pair of shoes i own - brown pair of LV slip ons that i never ever wore. i rarely wear anything formal, only for weddings really. also im not part of the wedding party and its not black tie.

judging from the pics - would this combo work ? if so, what color shirt can i wear with a skinny black tie ?

I think a white shirt is the only real choice for weddings. No loud colors and especially no striped anything. You should look like you are a guest, not at a job interview/meeting.

Do not wear those shoes. I know it's LV or whatever but that's not even a classiy loafer. It's half way to a sneaker. Go buy something with laces and a heel. Even something under $50 from the mall would be much more appropriate than those.

I've heard this a lot but I don't believe it to be true. I do it all the time and it looks fine. A brown belt helps.

i've actually seen this combo many times. white shirt, black pants, brown shoes, BUT you gotta have the brown belt. absolute must. the black tie will work fine, but im not sure if you should do a skinny...a normal tie would be good.

if i were you i would get another pair of shoes...if u dont have the money then do wht u need 2 do.

Adding a brown belt only makes it worse...then you're drawing attention tot he fact that you don't have black shoes. Seriously, no disrespect, but obviously you care about what you look like.

The only guys I know that wear the brown shoes & belt with black pants look also wear the white shoes & belt with black pants look...they also think that Diesel bootcut jeans are "da bomb" (their words).

thanks all, i bought a suit, a plain white shirt, and a patterned tie instead from a paul smith sale instead. and a pair of magli's i guess hopefully i'll get to wear all of this more than once. thanks all !
