edit; don't bother posting if you don't know what you're talking about. Okay? No douchebags like Neil Peart or John Bonham or something.

jesus christ- can anyone say TASTELESS? That "joey castillo" "solo" was pathetic, "martin brandlmayr"? I've never heard of the shitbag, but stop kidding yourself anyone under the age of 35 and is making avant garde, pretentious noise bullshit deserves no fucking recognition or fucking attention from fucking anyone. (except for no fun kids)

I am surprised noone has said brian chippendale or travis barker, or some douchebag like that.

Gadd; 50 ways to leave your lover- my favorite lick

see my post further up the page. because i love jimmy. a lot.

I must have glanced over it, because I would have said something encouraging like, "You're the only intelligent person in this thread" or "Agreeing with me is the only acceptable response, so kudos for the preemptive strike." Now we can start a club and not let anyone else in.

no, everyone can be in it... except keagan. cause he's pretentious.

nah, im just playing. i like keagan and his overwhelming need to tell us off on our musical choices. sorry i couldn't find a better drum solo from joey castillo, qotsa are one of the best bands around, and he is amazing live behind the kit. so sorry if i don't forray into avant-jazz or avant-anything because i enjoy the music i enjoy. oops, my bad for having dissimilar tastes and a less discerning eye? you're the one who started a thread for "your favorite drummer ever."

(no specific order)

Mike Portnoy..

Buddy Rich..

Battle vs. Ed Shahnessy

overrated. yes, portnoy plays in the most ridiculous time signatures, but his stuff is really pretty straight-forward and not interesting. too much math and not enough groove. plus, his technique sucks.

alan jackson jr. (of booker t. & the mg's)

joey castillo (of queens of the stone age)

mitch mitchell (of the jimi hendrix experience/band of gypsies)

fucking shit? queens of the stone age? they make awesome music, but he is in NO way one of the best drummers.

TrAvIS BaRkEr !!!!!1111

...

i can't pick just one so here's a list

1. neil peart

2. john bonham

3. ringo starr

4. phil collins

5. rick allen

6. dave grohl

7. max weinberg

ringo? grohl? nah.

Akira Jimbo

Dude is insane, but what I like most is his incorporation of DTX kits into the mix as well.

This is a bit tame I guess, but I can't find any better quality videos.

this guy is crazy. it's a little too out-there for my taste, but his style is unique. i've never seen someone incorporate electronics so tastefully.

jimmy chamberlin

keith moon

pretty boring for me (and yes, i've heard chamberlain's "jazz" cd)

I like:

Martin Valihora (Hiromi) - so musical...

Jon Theodore - wow. so inspirational. he makes rock interesting, and he practically WAS The Mars Volta. Without him, they are nothing. Complex and groovin...

I'll add more when I think of them later

was i the only one who, well, got the title of the thread? we're just posting our favorite drummers, and discussing them, im not saying any of yours are shit, or boring, or anything. we can talk about technique and stuff like you are, but you're also just putting myself and others down for our taste in drummers. Yes, the drummer and former drummers for the Mars Volta are amazing, but obviously to others, thats a matter of opinion. this whole thread is based in opinion on who we think is the best drummer in our eyes, but obviously you don't get that.
