Amsterdam this weekend

I know there are many threads about AMS but what I'm looking for is recommandations for THIS weekend... and also the brand new places, restaurants, shops...

The only thing I know for sure is that I'll go to the M.U.L.T.I.S.E.X.I. party

Wow, a superfuture veteran.. what an honour. This weekend is Gay Pride in Amsterdam, so pretty much all of Amsterdam will be pink. That means loads of awesome parties everywhere.

The main event is the Canal Parade - it's practically the gay version of Rio carnaval on water. It's usually lots of fun to watch. This happens this Saturday from 13:00 to (I think) 19:00. You can check the route here, but it will be absolutely packed so just follow the crowds. Find a nice spot along the route, open a bottle of chilled wine and enjoy the show.

There's parties in the streets everywhere, but each location traditionally has its particular crowd. Around the Stopera are usually the camp shows/parties with older crowds. All along the Amstel river (between Amstelstraat and Munt) there will be DJs, live music and drag queen shows. Spuistraat caters to younger crowds with bars and DJs outside - mixed younger audience here. The more arty/fashionable/hipster crowds usually gather around the gay monument, next to the Westerkerk. Another area will be the Zeedijk (the part near Central Station), mixed (older) crowds here also. The Warmoesstraat is usually the territory of the more kinky-at-heart, but I'm not sure if they too will be doing anything outside (no pun intended). Amstelveld (near Utrechtsestraat and Rembrandtplein) will have massive outdoor parties on friday and saturday, where the spirit of Ibiza/Mykonos during the nineties is being recreated. All street parties will end around 24:00 or 01:00 and partying will move to the clubs.

Really sorry to hear that, colin. That's really fucked up. Do you think your insurance will cover it?

Also, did you report this to the police? I read that undercover cops arrested a gang of pick-pockets last Saturday. It's probably a long shot, but you never know.. you might just get your phone back. A few years ago the police managed to return my friend's celphone to him after it was stolen from his house 6 months earlier. The cops searched a house and stumbled upon a couple of celphones that were reported stolen. This lead to the arrest of a gang of burglars that had been breaking into houses and robbing people all over town. Chances are slim but sometimes reporting this stuff to the police might pay off.

And may the cockroaches who did this enjoy a long miserable time behind bars.

We had a great time.

The weather was prachtig. The Gay Pride was fun but you have to be on a boat to have a real blast.

I've been to the M.U.L.T.I.S.E.X.I. party. It was hot (both meanings). Left the party at 6 am to eat a multigreasy schwarma I still can feel on my stomach.

We stayed at the Okura Hotel which is a bit far from the center but we got a corner room on the 17th floor with a beautiful view (and a japanese toilet... bliss for ass).

Shopping was a bit disappointing but it was not the main purpose of the trip.

I wouldn't mind to come back on the 24th of August for the Playhouse Labelnight @ 11. The place looks amazing.

Yes Bobbejaan, we tried the bar. Great view and good cocktails (the Saketini is delicious) Too bad they close so early.

I've been to a party called VOLTT yesterday. And man it was dope.

music: Minimal/electro/house

people: Hot

ticket 20 euro but worth every cent..So try to visit this if you are in the city
