"On July 20, 2002, star NASA intern Thad Roberts stole a 600-pound safe, which contained moon rocks from every moon mission since 1969, from the organization's headquarters. He brought the rocks to a cheap Orlando hotel, scattered them out on the bed and had sex with his girlfriend on them. He eventually tried to sell the ill-gotten goods on the internet and was busted by a Belgian mineral collector."

Throwable Panoramic Camera Ball

throwable-panoramic-camera-ball-1.jpg

Info:

As his graduate thesis Jonas Pfeil created a prototype throwable panoramic camera ball that snaps a single image when thrown in the air. Armed with 36 2-megapixel mobile phone camera modules, the camera contains an accelerometer that lets the exposure be trigged at the calculated climax of flight. The sphere of the camera itself is printed on a 3D printer and is controlled using tiny AVR microcontrollers, with the governing program written in C, C++, QT, and openCV. All images taken are then easily downloaded using a USB device. Pfeil and co. are currently seeking partners in developing the throwable panoramic camera ball further.
