Customizing Denim

i'm really new to all of this raw denim "customizing," i've heard about spraying starch for creasing, wearing your jeans while they're soaked, and just daily wear in general.

does spraying starch for creasing really work? if it does i was wondering if there are any alternatives to starch? any homemade mixes anyone has made that half worked out really well?

also for wearing your jeans while soaked, would cold water be better because it doesn't cause shrinking and fading, or would warm water help them form and fade in the right spots while being worn?

thanks to anyone who can help. by the way, i'm hoping to try all of this stuff with a pair of raw denim cheap monday's i picked up roughly 3 or 4 months that half already received daily wear. they also have fading mostly around pockets because of being caught in the rain with stuff in my pockets, kind of cool i guess.

if youre wearing your jeans while soaked, then hot or cold it wont matter since you cant keep the water warm. welcome to the future, please read the stickies to expand your knowledge and post small questions in the small questions thread.

It helps the creases if you iron them after you starch it.. Also you might want to try different grit sand paper. Try starting around 400 for a good effect and make sure you wash them between sessions. Also, people have had really good luck with using a 1/2 cup of bleach with each load, there was a thread about it a while back...
