if people start getting the jeans, there is no way to keep them from wearing them before the first of the year. also, after wearing the jeans for a few months now, i know a week or two is not going to make a difference... these are very stubborn to fade. my personal preference would be staggered start dates... you note the day you first soak... posting a pic and writing the date on the inside pocket of the jeans. the contest would be over one year after the last person starts... but those who got them early would have to document them at one year and nothing past that point will count for the contest.

however we do it, i don't think i'll be waiting to wear these. i do like the idea of writing the start date on the pocket and maybe documenting it with a newspaper.

and also, i specifically sized down with the jeans so i wouldnt have to do the soak cause id rather them real raw still... a soak isnt mandatory right?

agreed, i think this is a great solution. maybe we should make a poll? regardless, this is the route i am going to take. i dont really care all that much... wasnt it a genuis that said "fuck the contest"?

another thing i was thinking of... maybe have gordon write the day they were shipped out on the front pocket bag, and add a week to that for shipping time. that way no one can just say they started later.

Eh, it might be too much of a hassle, especially since the shipping isnt exact (though a weeks wear wouldn't matter too much *shrug*).

I think it's just simpler to take a picture of a newspaper while soaking it like in the Samurai contest. I don't see why that'd really be all too difficult for anyone to do.

^ Newspaper-documented soak/start date idea is a nice idea. Fair to everybody and convenient too (well, except maybe to the 'official' record/data keeper).

Personally, even if I get them early (doubt it), probably won't have time and room to really start wearing them until late-ish November or early-ish December.

But yeah, that sea of raw denim bad boys sure does looks heavenly...
