do you use a dryer?

My dryer has a static shelf that allows you to lay a pair of pants or sweater down and have the barrel of the dryer tumble around it. You get all the heat, but not any of the abuse the dryer can inflict on more delicate fabrics.

wow wtf. does it have a TV screen on it like those japanese refrigerators?

with my first pair of raws, nudie loose frank, i babied the hell out of them so i would hand wash and drip dry, and the fading was really weak. so when i got these samurai i would machine wash and machine dry and i like it so much better. except the first time the inside of the dryer was an indigo murder scene, everything was blue.

at first i just soaked my samurai's, now when i wash my jap denim i give it a 1st soak if it needs it. then i wash regularly in the machine at a regular cycle then throw it in the dryer for 30 mins or until its either just a bit damp or completly dry depeding on if i want to wear them right then or wait until later.

i hot wash them and hot dry them when i do this. i've used the machine cycles about 6 or 7 times on my samurai's. they will be 1 year old next month. it looses more indigo and makes them look lighter about a week after the machine wash. sort of like a delayed effect.

Bumping this to let you guys know that my experience turned out pretty good.

After one tryout on low setting wich did nothing I then soaked them again, just to make them wet and threw them in on the highest setting. Let them air dry after that but still wasn't happy about the fit so repeated the above procedure.

Am now very happy with how they fit, a bit looser than Sufu standards but nice.

Should've measured them to be able to say what the actual shrinkage was but, I can say that it was alot. They went from "wouldn't wear them baggy" to a fuller straight leg.

So far it looks like nothing happened to the denim, still as dark as before but I don't know how it might affect the fading. We'll see....

I don't think I'll be throwing these in the dryer once there's wear in them though.

I must note that these had a card patch and also that they might have been one wash actually, I couldn't really tell since it was this pair I got from supermarket, and due to the treatment they recieved I couldn't tell wether they were raw or not.

Also no leg twist occured after all this intense water+heat action.
