http://ircalc.usps.gov is your friend! Just be aware that about a week ago they massively overhauled their international services including the names, types of services offered and most importantly pricing. They also have a discount for postage purchased online so you save a bit if you pay with paypal/credit card... If this is a commercial sale (read: if you think there's even the tiniest possibility that the buyer will try and screw you) or if you want to buy insurance you'll have to use what's called international priority mail which is gonna cost you about $25 not including additional insurance for a 1lb 8oz box:

you can go to any post office and they have scales right there. don't even have to talk to anyone if you don't want to.

It may not necessarily matter. If you're just sending domestic priority mail, everything up to a certain weight costs the same and the increases are kind of in bunches. EG: everything up to 8oz costs the same, everything 8oz - 16oz costs the same, etc. Also if you use priority mail flat-rate boxes then it doesn't matter how much it weighs as long as you can fit it in the box. :)
