67-69 501s?

501-A

1967-1969

The A, S, F series –This series appeared in 1968 & was a short- lived attempt to market factory second pants at a reduced price. F=Failure, factory seconds that did not pass inspection & have material/construction flaws. S=Satisfactory, these were passable in every inspection category, but with some borderline "faults", like a few stitches unevenly spaced, etc. A=Excellent, overall quality denim, construction details, no flaws. This A, S, F series is easily recognized when the label is gone as two colors of cotton thread are used, orange & yellow. This is the final 501 model to use the waist button V-stitch.

27x27, what is the measured size now? Those would be like shorts on me...IF I could get them on past my knees.

Great find though, getting stuff like that at thrift stores is always fun. How many buttons does it have? I've never seen 501s (even small ones) with only 3 buttons.

It has four buttons on it

Shit, thats the weirdest pair of 501's I have ever seen.

yeah...I thought the same thing, the Levi's historian told me this:

This is a pair of 501 jeans from the early 1960s to 1971. Are there

rivets in the back pockets (that you can see from the inside of the

pants)? If so, the jeans date to 1966-1971.

why is the "E" missing in Levis on the cardstock tag? these are suspect. anything written on the pocket bags when you look at the jean insideout? i see these oddball fakes popping up a lot lately at least in the nyc area.

dunno, i bought these in pensacola florida at a church thrift store, heh.

there's nothing on the pocket bags, but these look pretty old. don't know why anyone would want to make a fake of 1960's levi's, but these could be fakes from that period.

These look OK to me - the denim itself is dead on. I've seen loads of fakes recently, but the denim doesn't normally look right, and the details - like the double stitched, crinked hems and the fading on the stitching - don't normally look anything like this. From memory, these shoudl have bar tack back pockets. It's always hard to say for definitev from photos, but I reckon these are a good catch.
