Has anyone gone backpacking in Japan?

I wanna go backpacking in Japan for a month or so.

My rents do live in Tokyo but

I don't think I can put up with living with my father for more than a week.

This won't be a shopping trip. Id like to be in touch with my roots

and find out what japan has to offer (besides 30 dollar handjobs

and happening bars)

it'll be along the lines of

-checking out the lavenders in frano, hokkaido

-itsukushima jinjya

-ise-jingu in ise

-kyoto

-Where to stay

-What to eat

-How much $ do I need realistically

-How do I travel between the areas of interest (japan rail pass won't do

I might even do an Ohenro trip in shikoku...

we can go on a WAYWT-backpacking trip in japan

we just visit touristy places and
