With Lebron playing two more games at most, I'm going to have to root for Kobe to win the chip. As annoying as the Lakers fanbase will get after they win the championship, I can't help but be happy for Kobe if he wins one for himself. He deserves some recognition without Shaq being in the conservation. I'm not a Kobe nut-rider, but I respect his knowledge and approach to the game. I haven't ever heard another basketball player in the league talk about the game like he does. I hope Lebron makes the series somewhat interesting before he goes out (props to the Magic for proving a lot of doubters wrong).

How can you say Kobe gets no recognition? The analysts drool all over him the whole game...the only way to get championship recognition is to win championships. Even then a lot of players (duncan for example) never do.

Part of my problem with Kobe is that Laker fans are sooo annoying...every loss they talk about how shit the refs were...they are almost as bad as Celtic fans...almost

I don't know how you can say Kobe gets no love from the refs either, he doesn't get calls because half the game he just stands around taking jumpers and actually doesn't get fouled. Whoever said Wince gets less respect is right because he just stands around shooting jumpers too...don't ever compare Kobe and Vince either, its ridiculous

Laker fans are sooo annoying.

they are going to rock the car flags...

being a kings fan thats all i would see back in 01-03 down in LA...never saw the flags when they werent winning ships, but when they were winning games, the flags were on all the cars.

all superstars get love one way or another. cav's just being exposed as the shitty team they are. lebron can't trust his team du passes when there's like 3 seconds left on the shot clock. if I were the lakers I'd much rather play cav's then magic. easier to defend one dude then like 3-4 decent clutch players. I got mad love for lebron but I like kobe more.

btw I'm sick of the media (ESPN) nut riding lebron. "the series is 3-1 but don't count Cleveland out yet." stfu nig its overrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Of course he gets recognition, but there's always going to be a * next to his three championships because Shaq was there.

I was always rooting for the Kings in 01-03, Chris Webber was so fun to watch.

Funny to see how people talk about his rings as if they were things to be ashamed of. He fucking won three in a row. Imagine some team winning three in a row now. I can't even fathom it.

yea kings had a good window from 01-03.

when hedo and gerald wallace are your 10th and 11th men on your roster you have a solid team.

damn the lockout strike and damn big shot bob.

when i saw webber as the representative i didnt understand what he was doing there. of course #4 gets #4...its only fitting. i use to love webber in the fab 5 days.

I'm not saying it isn't an amazing feat, but I'm sure Kobe as an individual would be more proud of winning a championship without the help of Shaq, he doesn't want to be known as the sidekick. He wants to be Batman and I don't blame him.

Yeah I like Webb, seems like a nice guy and all, but the dude has to have the single most underachieving and unluckiest basketball career ever.

You can't say he was underachieving because he put up numbers night in and night out. If you feel underachieving is not winning a championship, so be it, but Webber is a superstar and will be always known for his big-man play-making abilities. Yea he fucked up at Michigan, yea the Don Nelson and Webber duo could have been something special, yea the injury in '03 ruined everything, but his career was definitely filled with great moments.

when hedo and gerald wallace are your 10th and 11th men on your roster you have a solid team.

It wouldn't have mattered, Hedo probably got 15 mpg, and Gerald racked up a bunch of DNPs. Sure they are quite the talent now, but you can't factor in Hedo and G-Dubb as X-factors in the 01-03 seasons.

What about Penny?

He works too, but he didn't have a defining tragic moment like Webber did with the timeout or the Robert Horry shot. This guy had talent, and no doubt his career was more illustrious than 90% of the players that played in the league. But srsly, he was not a superstar. Could've been one, should've been one, but superstars get more than one first team nods and don't end their careers as Webb did his.
