The Sopranos final season 07

I keep thinking that maybe Coco is gonna kill Meadow and then Tony is gonna kill him.

I don't think he's going to recover from getting curbed that soon... I buy the Pauly killing Tony thing, I've never trusted Pauly. When Tony said gave the word to get some guys from Italy to come over and kill Phil, I thought Furio coming back to kill Tony and take Carmella would be a good twist.

Anyway, cant wait to check out John from Cinncinati.

yeah i thought Furio was coming back as well......

and theres a rumor going around that John from Cinncinati is really going to be another hour of the Sopranos......if its true, pretty crazy advertising stunt......

its fucking bullshit as far as i'm concerned. its probably hbo's chickenshit way of preserving the show for future use. motherfuckers. I'm done, out of pure principle.

Edit:

I read this on IMDB's forums and it makes sense...

As tony was looking at his daughter comeing in it went black from behind he was killed. The reason I know he was killed was because it was a foreshadow when Bobby said when you die everything goes black and you dont hear anything. Most people didnt get that.

I think the ending was great...here's my interpretation.

Even though everything is ostensibly "ok" for Tony at this point, that feeling you had during the last scene (which was quite beautifully created IMO)--why is he alone, is his family ok, did they get killed?--why is meadow late, did she get killed?--who is that guy behing her coming in?--who is that dude at the bar?--are those thug dudes there to kill them all?

that's what Tony has to live with for the rest of his life.

.. sooooooo the series finale .... what do you guys think?

nice take on it westbrook ..... but last night at 10:05 pm the US prolly had the most collective WTF! uttered .... i have to agree with you on yr interpretation of the ending ... its like "life goes on"

my frnd on the other hand says tony got whacked .. the whole scenes was from tony's POV .. hence the loud music .. he was even saying that in an earlier episode .. tony and bobby were on the boat they were talking about getting whacked .. and tony said something like "its not so bad .. you dont see it coming then everything just goes black... hence the ending....

Chase definitely did a very good job of filming the last scene....but he always has...

He definitely made you feel the constant paranoia that Tony must go through on a daily basis, even if its just going out for a simple burger dinner.

But like past seasons and episodes, the ending also left me wanting more and with more questions.....Chase does a good job of that but i felt with the last episode i wanted more of a wrap up....not thinking that my cable went down with that black screen.

After watching it again and more closely, I think the ending relates to statements made throughout the episode to the state of television today. In the scene when they are hanging out in that one safehouse one of the dudes on tv is talking about how the writer is a commodity in tv, then twilight zone music starts playing... Then theres the mention of the baldwin movie with the ridiculous premise that is being developed by a studio that usually makes porn. In the scene when where he is talking to a lawyer, the lawyer looks up at the the surveillance video too many times for it not to mean anything. I was thinking big brother type critique first, but then I considered how it might be alluding to reality shows and their exploitiveness (sp?). In the end after making those statements he couldn't provide the viewer with some instant gratification type ending. He had to do something that required some contemplation. I was fucking pissed at first, but I appreciate the episode much more now.

good observations

i think just that fact that everyone can put a different spin on the episode means Chase did his job to a certain degree.....with gangster type shows / movies, you always expect there to be some closure or ending...death.....killing...an end....and new beginning...birth..baptism, opening the book for new guys......the fact that he left it open and more to interpretation is definitely different for that genre of show.

Someone here at work got sent this, so I'm sending this to you all.

From an email I was forwarded….

The guy at the bar/counter is Nikki Leotardo. The same actor played him in

the first part of season 6 during a brief sit down concerning the future of

Vito. That wasn't that long ago. Apparently, he is the nephew of Phil.

Phil's brother Nikki Senior was killed in 1976 in a car accident.

Absolutely Genius!!!! David Chase is truly rewarding the true fans who pay

attention to detail.

So the point would have been that life continues and we may never know the

end of the Sopranos. But if you pay attention to the history, you will find

that all the answers lie in the characters in the restaurant. The trucker

was the brother of the guy who was robbed by Christopher in Season 2.

Remember the DVD players? The trucker had to identify the body. The boy

scouts were in the train store and the black guys at the end were the ones

who tried to kill Tony and only clipped him in the ear (was that season 2

or 3?).

Absolutely incredible!!!! There were three people in the restaurant that

had reason to kill Tony and then it just ends. This was Chase's way of

proving that he will not escape his past. It will not go on forever despite

that he would like it to "don't stop". Not the fans!!! Tony would like it

to keep going but just as we have to say goodbye, so does he.

Tony def got whacked. They set it up with the flashback with Bobby (you

don't see it coming; everything just goes black). I knew the minute he was

distracted by Meadow hustling into the diner and the screen went black that

he took a perfect shot to the temple. No music no screaming ... ... ...

lights out, story over.

apparently the shirt t was wearing when he walked into the diner is different from the one he's shown in during the rest of the scene. if that and the above e-mail is correct then it kind of points to the scene as being a dream sequence. obviously chase has left the ending as wide open to interpretation as possible, i also like the (meta) reading that the series is what's getting whacked at the end.

That message seems to be bogus. Nikki Leotardo?

p.s. does anyone know where i can find a full cast list for the episode, imdb doesnt list all.

Paolo Colandrea, owner of Paul's Penndel Pizza, last month filmed a potentially pivotal scene for the final episode of “The Sopranos,” the groundbreaking HBO mob drama that says goodbye at 9 Sunday night.

Colandrea, 47, describes his role as simply “mystery man,” a guy who walks into a diner and locks eyes ominously with Tony, who's sitting at a table with wife, Carmela, and son, A.J. Colandrea sits down at the counter, stares at Tony again, gets up to go the bathroom, and ...

So how does a pizza shop owner with no previous acting experience land a role on the final episode of the most acclaimed program in cable television history?

Right place, right face, really.

my friend heard a radio interview w/ david chase. apparently the members-only guy at the counter was NOT nikki leotardo. the actor or character was never casted in a single sopranos episode.

as for the shirt thing, my roomate and i did a scene-by-scene on the tivo last night. same shirt, the collar was just deceiving b/c of the black leather jacket.
