aNYthing is sooo overrated

anyway, the kool guys tees was one of my favorites from last year.... don't be bitter, be better!

Kool Guys was dope, and "don't be bitter, be better" was a dope slogan.

But

and he's just out to promote the LES, no pretentious bullshit.

I have mixed feelings about this comment. On the one hand, I like that they're all about the LES. Its cool that they're involved in community events and shit like that. People who work in the store are generally pretty cool. However, its shirts like this one:

that annoy the hell out of me. Since it's hard to read, the worm is saying "go home", referring to gentrification in the city at the hands of rich midwesterners. While I agree with the point they're trying to make, I think it's a little hypocritical of them to put out a shirt like that while they promote how cool it is to live in the LES. 205 club is "locals only". . . aka the rich white hipsters that moved into the neighborhood because they heard how cool it is down there.

Its this conflicting message of community and exclusivity that bothers me.

Ah, I interpretted it wrong I guess...I just assumed the 'go home' thing was just a general newyorker "fuck you" to everyone else. But your explanation makes sense.

@ spaghetti, yeah i get what you mean, but still, it's not aNYthing's and A-ron's fault that those rich white hipster kids moved in the neigborhood. They were doing their thing and promoting LES before that, and contributed to making it '' cool'' . This is something inevitable in creative neighborhoods, when they're doing relevant stuff, they're gonna get written about in magazines and thus people will read it and think, hey that's cool, and move there. I believe something similar is happening in shoreditch, london, atm/ for the past years.

I thought we were past this shit already?

Are the noobs bringing it back around to hating shit we already hated on and then hated on hating on? We need more threads about how much this one guy with six posts thinks bape is "sooooo wack" and it doesn't go with his "denims" or his "incredibly small penis."

the 'go home' comment is definitely directed at tourists crowding the city,

and is not a comment on gentrification. it can be taken that way, i guess,

but as far as i know that's not the point.

Servo, as per usual, is utterly correct.

to be honest aNYthing doesn't seem to put themselves out there as a clothing brand per se....more like the branded representation of a scene comprising a bunch of different elements. yeah they do some t-shirts, sweats, caps and the occasional cut & sew (i hate saying this term now, blah) piece, but these all seem to be more about repping the brand than -being- the brand.

one thing i do know: a-ron's got style oozing out the pores. dude's always been on a completely other level w/the dress sense, w/out ever looking like he's trying...

I love how ppl hate on the tourists yet conveniently ignore the mass sums of money that they pour into the city.

i love how ppl use conjecture and blanket statements to prove non-existent points.

do you really, really like tourists, rudebwoy?

they're a minor annoyance no matter what city you're in, and there's nothing

disingenuous about simultaneously pocketing their cash and ragging on them.

we call it commerce here.

its aNYthing: you can bitch about some tourists but the second they ask you

for directions, you put on yr brightest smile and tell them exactly where to go.

ADORN/Eric Elms is ill..

thats all i gotta say.

on the money.

what designs was he doing for anything though?

aNYthing's angle on things is probably my most favorite in years. that store's got a little of everything from what's going on.
