Redyeing Overdyed Jeans

Has anyone ever done this?

I have a pair of APC black overdyed jeans that are turning a funky purple...

Want to try and bring it back to black...anyone ever done this?

a japanese company called spotted horse craft has a (new?) service that re-dyes your jeans...

nothing wrong with what you want to do, just a matter of finding the right dye i think. not a dye expert so i'll step aside here.

I've done it. Albeit many moons ago.

Dylon make a variety of dyes, hot (machine), cold and multipurpose. They all work, although the cold dye seemed at the time, the weaker of the three. The other 2 required hot water, so be aware that this may cause undesirable shrinkage. Dylon may have improved performance of these dyes since I used them.

Just a little caveat, with redyeing, you have to be aware that unless your stitching is 100% cotton, then it will take dye differently to the cotton fabric of the jeans. Assuming your jeans are 100% cotton

I notice that Dylon have now a 'Machine Dye for Denim' which I'm most curious about.

have a pair of light tan 501's, one of these nights i want to try overdying it grey/charcoal... does anyone have any advice or tips before i try it? thanks
