hangtheDJ, regarding the armholes, it's def a shadow in the pic that makes them look bigger. I disagree about the shoulders, as they seem to hug my shoulders rather well (i guess i should take a pic with the jacket closed without my arms up). I really hope you're not right about the shoulders though, cause that would be the hardest thing to fix.

i haven't considered taking in the waist, but that actually seems like it might be a good idea. thanks for the help.

I have to agree with hangtheDJ, shoulders definitely look too big.

two button.

kyo, are you referring to both pics, or just the bottom one? when arms are raised, that naturally pushes up and extends the shoulder.

gbc, you bring up a good point about the lapels. i still have to steam the suit so that might change things, but here's another pic for reference:

hangthedj, kyo,-lemme know if the shoulders still look too big. i'll bring it up with the tailor.

edit: ah mass, just saw your reply. thanks

I'm sorry, but that TaT suit is really unflattering, generally. The pants should be longer so they break gracefully, regardless of whether you're going for the Thom Browne look (which is played/tacky anyways), because regardless of the look you're trying to achieve, the length of those pants is unflattering and makes you look like you bought a suit that was too short for you (not in that Thom Browne sorta way). The arms/shoulders seem to be oddly placed giving you a slouched appearance, and the suit should be vented (is it? can't see the back). That will automatically give it a more tailored appearance and make the chest seem less unfitted compared the rest of the suit.

But generally I don't think that suit is all the great. Not saying its bad quality, I just don't think its cut very nicely.

do you even own a suit, jeep?

like 5 right now. One seersucker suit that needs to be tailored again because I popped a seam in the jacket and the waist needs to be adjusted, leg tapered. I am a large person.

dude stop with the constant mentioning of how big you are. nobody gives a fuck and youve mentioned it enough times that nobody will ever forget.

next time you find yourself typing about how large/tall/big you are, replace the aforementioned term with jew.

edited slightly for drunken rambling:

cliffnotes: Jeepster, just because there isn't break doesn't necessarily mean it's thom browne. I don't thinkt he length is a problem as much as it is a preference. Jason (the creator of TaT) is really into mod stuff which i'm guessing is influencing him more than thom browne. All of the suits, jeans and pants that guy wears have no break but don't have a thom vibe to them at all so these suits make sense.

That said, the suit is still fresh out of a small box from shipping and should probably be pressed/steamed/whatever first. The shoulders might be slightly big but these are do it yourself mtm suits so taking precise measurements is key, which is why i'm nervous about doing it. A lot of the skinny guys i've seen get suits from him have turned out great.

Perhaps it's just the proportions with your legs but it does appear the shoulders protrude too far. Unless you're prepared to spend a lot of extra money and time, don't have your tailor alter it as it's not distracting, just noticeable if you're analyzing. Talk to him just to see if your future suits need adjusting.

Thom Browne acknowledged that the short pant look he developed on the runway was an artistic reaction against men that wouldn't get their overly long pants tailored (but for some reason he extended the look to stores?). That said, I have no problem with the length of BrokeDJ's pants. If it is a TAT house cut the suit is side vented. I feel as if the width of the shoulders, chest, and waist contrast too strongly with the length/slimness of the pants.

Dark blue and black still doesn't look right to my eyes. Actually, black and blue in general still look strange to me.

Is it just me? I'm not a big fan of fashion "rules" and I've often heard it quoted as one but it does look rather peculiar.

I agree in this this situation, with dark blues it looks like your wearing uncoordinating colours, like red and pink...

i'll start a Thick as Thieves thread in superfashion when i get home from work today since i don't wanna clog up WAYWT chat. people with TaT suits already can comment, ask about their fit etc, and those interested in buying can ask questions about measuring and crap. i'll have more fit pics in there.

as for now, i'm going to shut up about thick as thieves. at least in this thread. but i'd like to hear more critiques in that thread.

I rock black and dark blue all the time, or at least often. I think it can look very nice.

it doesnt in that particular fit, obviously. Black+blue+purple
